70 km of unsealed gravel in a 2000 km road trip.
It's the circled bit after such a short distance that is making me pause and consider. Looking like the dirt has almost / has made it all the way through

Hell no malossi or polini filter for me.

Before you ask, that is the standard filter that came with the box and was already lightly oiled.

The Asian airbox was not this bad *after i modified it*. Used plenty of foam to stop the entrance to the snorkel sucking dusty air from the engine bay, forcing it to get air past the hinge instead.

having that much dirt and crap you ride in extremely dusty dirty conditions and should be servicing the filter every 1000 miles

I bet that's due to the high uranium content in your aussie dirt. The filter doesn't stand a chance against those massive atoms.
Just leave it open for 10 billion years or so and most of it will turn to lead. We all miss lead in our combustion cycle, don't we?

No comments from anyone on the dark circled patch?

Brown makes me think it is dirt coming through (mixed with oil hence dark). If so that's shite.

If it's just the colour of only oil coming through then fine.

And why the patch right there, bit odd. don't see the logic it lines up where the closed section of the pipe comes into the box.

I'd put it down to dirty oil coming in from the head vent pipe.

Like this? Hmm not so sure. But it's true that i did blow plenty of oil into the box on that ride.

Ps, only having a bubble at the rear of the box is pointless as the oil instead pools further forward in the box - before the hump for the screw. Think older models of the box had a bubble in the middle for this reason.
