There's a rust free high mileage gts250 that is cheap near me. It's got dings all over it but appears sound and has been regularly serviced. It's got 50000km on it- still worth looking at?

If it's been well maintained and the price is right, yeah. 50k isn't huge.

I'm sure it still has plenty of life left in it. As long as all the normal maintenance was never neglected and the price is right, go ahead and buy it.

tires, possible belt replacement, brakes, battery age.... all those add up quick.

Look for overheated\slightly melted wiring under the bucket. Ask when the voltage regulator was changed. those were weak - causing your headlight to pop and fry the battery. upgraded better quality non-oem regulators fixed that issue easily.

I love my 250, I'll still take it over any 300 with all that techy gizmo stuff.

But ---- for comparison. Here in the states that same scooter is only worth $1200----- $1500.

snag it. the older 250's IMO are more solid mechanically and electrically than the newer 300's and 310's.

lots of spares available for the 250's and lots of aftermarket stuff for them as well.

I bought a gts250 a few years back, had 48k kms on the clock, I rode it till it had nearly 130k kms on it. Zero problems with the engine.

Ask for maintenance records for 1. belt change, 2. coolant flush, 3. brake fluid flush. Check the 4 digit code on the side of the tires for age. If there is no record of the above list, plan on doing it yourself or paying to have it done. Figure that in the price. As others have said, great scooter, will last a long time with proper care and parts are fairly easy to come by.
