Recently bought a 2005 ET4 that ran like a beauty for 3 days then nothing but Walbro carb issues since then. Taken apart many times and it seems the idle circuit is clogged, or something else causes it to idle fine but bog hard between 10-20% throttle. At my wits end I was ready to spend ~$400 CAD to have a new one shipped from scooterwest, but I figured I'd try a Chinese carb with the correct inlet & outlet sizing first (26 & 42mm). Lo and behold, for $38 CAD I have this beauty purring without the need for the $$$ OEM part. Happy to send the one I bought to anyone but I imagine they're all the same. The throttle cable needs a bit of modification to fit, but given the savings I was more than happy to bust out the dremel.

Even came with a fuel filter to boot. I haven't been able to get it tuned with the stock airbox yet and am running the provided filter. I suspect it was jetted for high airflow and the box is too restrictive. Anyways, try the chinese part before buying OEM.

I bought this one - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0DYYDQ16N. Let me know if you're interested in the steps to adapt the throttle cable

On a stock ET4, you can open the throttle all the way from a dead stop and the bike will accelerate smoothly until it eventually (it is a Piaggio 150, after all,) hits top speed. Can you do that with yours?

Be great to hear back from you when you get it tuned so you can run it with the air cleaner attached. Also, if you get rid of the dead spot in the midrange, and the bog at full throttle, it would be good to know how you did that.

Ride it a bit in inner city stop and go traffic. That's always fun, and can be challenging, or terrifying, on any Vespa with one of the Chinese GY6 carbs.
