Hi All,

Well, I'm late to the game in announcing this since this forum is not my usual hangout (my apologies). I'm Scott Taggart and for the last few years I have created and led a multi-day scooter ride named the Pacific Coast Tour (PCT for short with the obvious name overload with the long hike). The ride alternates years with the Scooter Cannonball (no direct association other than I have ridden the SCBR 4 times).

The tours are multi-day (7-10) rides averaging about 200 miles per day and concentrate on very scenic backroads and sights. They are free (small refundable support fee this year, if we have support) and you make your own reservations for lodging. In '24 we had support but that is not guaranteed.

The rides are open to all scooters but we suggest 150cc or larger since once in a while we end up on faster roads. We avoid freeways but mountain highways are common. We occasionally have a motorcycle enter but we all ride at our own pace. You can come and go any day you like. This is NOT a competition: there is no scoring or awards.

If I had to sum up the rides, it's: no drama, ride, experience, socialize, have fun, repeat.

In 2024 the PCT was a 9-day event that started and ended in Sacramento CA, heading N through the Sierra and Cascades to Portland and then down the west coast through SF and back to Sacramento. We had about 30 riders that year.

In 2026, we again start (first day Sunday August 16) and end the 9-day, 1800 mile ride in the Sacramento area but this time head west to the coast and then south though central CA, then east to the sierra through 3 national parks, Lake Tahoe, etc. Again, the route is all about quiet and interesting backgrounds and sights. For '26, the route is a bit shorter and even more relaxed than '24 with lots of sights. The routes are very carefully curated to travel the most scenic fun roads possible for a given area.

For those of you thinking about entering a future Scooter Cannonball or are just interested in getting out on some longer ride days in interesting, little known areas, this is a perfect chance to do that. Not only that, you can mingle with friendly seasoned riders from all over the US (including the Cannonball). You'll learn about navigation, spares, maintenance, ride pacing, etc.

If you are interested in more info or getting involved in the ride, there's still plenty of time (all you really need to do is make your hotel reservations and sort out how to get to the start. Here's a link to most of the ride details (overnight cities, mileages, maps, etc.): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pvKI3RXn7Ca6aKJEGCqGE_e3Cm0QgXo_Kt6XZvvJmCk/edit?tab=t.0

Find out all the details, see the conversation and meet the other riders at the ride-specific forum here: https://pct2026.tricktracks.org/ (this the same forum style as the Cannonball).

We hope you can join us and feel free to ask questions, etc. at the forum.
