It's not a Vespa. What is it? Has it always had trouble with hills or is this something new?

There are many people that call any small scooter a Vespa, you see it all over FBM. Sometimes also referred to as a "mopad" - it's a southern thing, I guess. Anyway, the OP is bewildered because his 50cc scoot won't climb a hill. It's just as likely, that a 50cc Vespa would not climb the same hill. Making fun of him isn't helping. So to the OP: basically, you need something with a larger engine. Look around and see what others are using that works for them. Sell yours and buy that.

Are you talking about any hill or a very steep hill? Please elaborate more on the issue.

Belt could be slipping. Clutch could be glazed. Probably just needs a good once over and some new parts in the drivetrain 👍 New contra and clutch springs, or a new clutch and stiffer springs never hurt either

Yep! Just had the same symptoms on my 50, a clean-up of the clutch bell and all the belt dust has restored it to its usual Mach1 Scooter emoticon
