So I need to remove the ABS pump for dent removal from the front skirt. How is that done correctly as far as air and bleeding (or anything else I should know about) goes? Can I just do it and bleed the brakes as usual or are there special procedures and precautions involved?

keep it the right way up so the fluid doesn't drain out.

when reinstalling, read the guide in the workshop manual which talks about order of bleeding in particular to bleed at the joins to the abs, not just the caliper.

(forget which manual discusses this, probably the gts300 or gtv300, maybe the hpe versions)

This may be entirely my fault but I can't find that video. There are other videos which may be more or less accurate because they are not about the exact same vehicle so ideally it would be great if someone who has done this would tell me which video or which PDF is the right one.

And Scooterwest has quite some videos on brakes-this-and-brakes-that so maybe it is buried somewhere in there?

Are those PDFs available? I mean I'm not asking you here to give me it, just the information if people in the know think they should be google-able?

might be able to unbolt it from the frame while leaving the brake hoses attached and then push it out of the way?

Yeah that would be a good option but the thing is I don't know what the body shop thinks of it. I cannot take it to them with the pump half way attached and then they say they don't have sufficient access and cancel the appointment.

But anyway the procedure in the manual is about replacing the pump which means you do the dismount and mount in one session and the new pump comes prefilled and openings sealed with plugs, then you do the whole dance to avoid air getting in, removing the plugs one by one and so on. This does not seem doable at least not without having those plugs and then the bike needs to have wheels attached to be mobile on the body shop floor and so on. So I guess in my case the air will get into the ABS pump and I will just need to properly bleed it afterwards, involving the OBD2 tool that will activate the pump for the procedure. Maybe I should start a separate thread about "What if air got into the abs pump?" Or let's see, maybe people in the know will notice it here too and offer valuable insight.
