Hi everyone,
I just bought a 2023 GTS 300.
It has 1500kms on the clock. I bought it from a high end dealer who verbally told me the 1st service was done.
I didn't check the book or anything, it thought they would surely have put it through their garage.
Anyway, I have owned it for 2 weeks and noticed a rubbery burning smell. I checked the log book - no service.
I checked the oil, it came up bone dry. I went to get a 2nd reading on the dipstick and immediately broke the tip into the engine.
Seems like the dipstick thing is common.
My main concern is how likely is there to be engine damage due to missing the 1st service by 500kms?
The smokey smell may just be wearing in on what is still a pretty new bike.
I can either try to get the dealer to refund me, which is very possible under consumer laws where I am.
But honestly, I am just thinking I'll get it serviced and get the mechanic to sort out the dipstick. I like the bike and haggling with a dealer could be a massive hassle if he digs his heels in.
I'm thinking 500kms over first service shouldn't be an issue.
What do you guys think?
