I just ordered a new 310 the super sport.
Where , how and what are you using to mount your phone / gps?
Quadlock or something else? Google pixel if it matters.

Use a vibration dampener with the mount.

Note: not really relevant though if you have a lower model phone without OIS. you didn't say which phone you have so can't say more.

Personally, I'm partial to the Peak Design mounts (https://www.peakdesign.com/collections/phone-mounts), but they require their own case. On the upside, they lock and unlock easily and have a dampener built-in.

FWiW, I landed on RAM. Be sure to hunt a Quick Grip for the phone. Lately sites pop up the X Grip when asking for RAM. The clamp and ball work on the mirrors, plus they have different arm lengths available. My 2nd setup does a GPS speedometer. It's the short arm while phone is the medium arm. They both end up well positioned at the corner of the flyscreen and at a height that keeps your eyes on the road.

I just bought one to attach to mirror stem from Amazon. It has some vibration dampening and I also had to use automotive rubber hose (slice and cut to the size) to increase the thickness of the mirror stem so it can grip it. Basically additional vibration dampening.

On my ZX14 I have a RAM mount and I don't like using my iphone attached to it anyway (under the sun, I don't use it anyway for most rides where I know where I am going, etc.) so I always keep my iphone in my pocket during the ride anyway.

I chose this one for the vespa so I can easily take it off of it (it will be almost always off of the bike), and occasionally when/if myself or my wife wants to use it, she can mount it on the bike and attach her phone to it.

Those work fine *unless* you have any sort of protective cover on your phone - 5-6mm is about the maximum thickness they'll allow. As Mrs jimc and I discovered in Greece a few weeks ago when the hired bikes came equipped with these.

I also recommend the QuikGrip.

I finally went to QuadLock two years ago and would not go back.

I mount them to the mirrors using RAM ball mounts on all four scooters, plus my bicycle.

I stopped using Garmin GPS units after finding a phone app that was better for my usage, so the one phone is used for everything now.

have you ever noticed that a phone gets warmer when charging?

have you ever noticed that leaving anything in the sun gets warmer?

have you ever noticed that setting phone brightness to max and leaving the screen on gets warmer?

have you ever noticed that when the phone is using it's cpu and gps it gets warmer?

adding the above together is why I don't recommend using a phone for *long trips*, eg road trips. but fine for navigating across town.

*some* dedicated gps and androidAuto/carPlay units are designed for abuse. theses are typically described as being for motorcycles rather than for cars.


I've no doubt many will chime in and say "I've been using a phone mount for years and no probs". Well, good for you. It's jsut general advice on how to treat electronic devices and usually the manufacture of these devices will say in the user manual to not leave in the sun.

The charging ones are a pain in the ass to install: require a high power USB installation, taking the front end apart, fishing the wire through, etc.. Had to exchange the first one, which meant redoing the install, only to discover that their Pixel 7 Pro case didn't align correctly with the mount.

Major disappointment when a charger doesn't work with its own case. Gave them the benefit of the doubt when my first (noncharging) mount disintegrated on tour, but I can't recommend them anymore.

I've used RAM with a Garmin GPS on my Honda Motorcycle, I might give quadlock a go as I can then use it on my bicycle also.

I recently replaced an iPhone XR (from 2019) with an iPhone 17.

The battery in the new one allows me to use it on all of the time on half day rides without charging.

On longer rides I turn it off on long stretches between turns.

That won't last but I am enjoying the long lasting battery for now.
