As we all know, unlike regular Vespas, where you can easily remove the "Tupperware" and gain access to the engine, on a modern MP3 you have to disassemble half the scooter to access, for example, the injector, the top of the engine, connections, etc.

My question is whether anyone has tried and succeeded in modifying the top case or helmet carrier (whichever you prefer to call it) to access the engine without having to disassemble the entire rear and side of the MP3? Not to mention the risk of breaking a tab or damaging a plastic thread every time you remove the panels.

Something like cutting the plastic and adding some supports or something that would allow you to remove the part, access it, and then put it back in place, by removing a few screws... logically, adding reinforcement along the entire length of the cut on both sides to try to maintain structural rigidity, and add some like a rubber edge trim to prevent the entry of water or gases.

As always, constructive ideas and opinions are welcome and appreciated.

That would be great, if it could be done. I've been delaying replacing the broken piston/cylinder in my MP3 500 because I'm too lazy to remove all the plastic.
Sigh, I'll have to do it soon though, before the rainy season comes, and before the spiders completely take over the scoot.

In my honest opinion there is a lot of structural stuff involved in that underseat helmet box, I reckon insurance could be void if removed, look at fleabay pictures in announcement below, will give more of an idea.

first your link sucks and does not work

Next there is no structural element to the inside pet carrier and frame. "it's a hard plastic baggie to hold things.

now insurance statement has no bearing on this what so ever.

not a bad idea, you could dremmel cut outing add some metal clips so the piece can be hinged or screwed back in.
