I used to think the green ones were the fastest. I've changed my mind, though. I'm now quite certain that, in fact, the red ones are the fastest.

Congrats Jess!!
Are you gonna do the topcase like your gt?, Red topcases are still m.i.a.
if you are, you better tell your dealer to put one on order. check with scooterbobby, he seems to get stuff sooner than other dealers.
BTW, Silver is proven to be fastest.

Still haven't decided. I might go with the GIVI with a red panel insert.

Red shift (also known as Doppler shift) states that when something is moving away from you at an extreme rate of speed, it's color will shift toward red. Stars in the galaxy moving away from earth appear slightly redder than they actually are, while stars approaching earth appear slightly bluer than they actually are.

In principal, this is the same effect you hear when a police car with a siren blaring changes pitch as it passes you. The wavelengths (of sound, light, or whatever) compress if they're generated by an object approaching you (blue shift) or expand if they're generated by an object speeding away from you (red shift).

Ergo, all scooters speeding away from you at great speed are red.

"Red Shift" is a great scooter name. I think you should claim it for your scooter.

Oh, I saw it. I was holding back, as it's only been a few hours that I've had the GTS home. Also, I wasn't sure you were serious.

Unfortunately, not right now. Too much going on. As much as I'd like to say Deb won't let me, right now, I couldn't even justify it to myself.

I pulled two dead batteries out of the MGA last weekend, and probably only put 1000 miles on it last year. I have 10,000 in the past five years, though. The WRX has only 2800 more miles than this time last year, and I didn't have the scoot until September (which now has 900 miles.) We just took Deb's car everywhere other than commuting (which is only 80 miles a week for me.)

So yea, I need another toy... (and don't even mention the Whaler. It hasn't been sailed in 20 years now)

No worries. I've still got a windscreen for the Guzzi on order (damn Piaggio parts fulfillment) and I may have a dramatic change of heart on it once I get it installed. I'm not holding out hope, as right now riding the Guzzi is about as much fun as a tea party in a wind tunnel, but I guess that's pretty much par for the course with un-faired motorcycles.

The GTS came from VespaSF. There are precious few GTSs in the area.

The GT is still waiting for parts, but I guess I'm not in a hurry now. I'm going to let it go through the warranty repair process and then, most likely, sell it. Aside from this clutch problem (which will be entirely replaced) it's still a fine bike, and I've been agonizing for weeks over the decision to replace it. In the end, the upcoming HTTH rally and today being the birthday of the Vespa kind of pushed me over the edge.

Slick, but you'll want a windscreen on that puppy too if you're going to wind it up to its top end.

The part I need most is actually the clutch shaft. The end of mine is sheared off, and I believe the rubbing sound I hear on deceleration is the other end of the clutch shaft rubbing against the opposite side of the case, since the nut is no longer keeping it fixed in place.

That's what I was imagining I would want on the test GTS I had. For me, it would have been a must have accessory. I couldn't really think of any others though.

It flies. Even though I know it's heavier than the GT, it feels lighter because acceleration is so effortless. It's also very smooth at higher speeds, more so than the GT was (although the GT was no slouch on smoothness either).

The only place where it falls down (and only a little) is the smoothness at low speed, where it's a bit thumpy, much like the LX is. The GT, when properly adjusted and when the transmission is relatively free of dust, is smoother at low speed than the GTS. This is something I noticed on the first GTS I test-drove, about a month ago, and it holds true for my new one as well.

Really, though, it's as close to perfect as I can imagine.

Now if I could just hack that clock into 12 hour mode...
