Modern Vespa

Always wanted a Blue GT200. In 2003 we put a deposit down on one before the colors were even announced. To our dismay, blue never came. When Bobby told me he had a blue GTS for me I was happy as a clam!
Here she is just after I picked her up from Bobby...


That was a fun trip. I rode Amtrak down from the bay area, stayed overnight in Santa Barbara, picked up my scooter in the morning and headed out for the long trip home. Started with one mile on the odometer. This is what I ended with...

To get ready for the Disneyland Rally I added a Nautilas Horn, an iPhone/iPod charger and a Givi top box...



I know it's doofy but it does the job well!

Now for the fun part...
I got my parts back from the powder coaters this past week and put her back together over the weekend.

I had the trans cover, swing arm, foot pegs and back rack all done in blue to match the scoot and the rims and license plate frame in sparkly lime green...

I should note that when we took the rack off to get it powder coated the big guy had a simple idea to make the mounting of the top box more stable. He welded 2" flat plate to the rack before I had it sent out.

I want to get racing stripes painted on the front so I ran down to my local sign shop to get some vinyl cut so I can play with the size and placement before making it permanent...

love those rims.

Very nice colors all around. I also like the tranny case in body color. It de-emphasizes it for me.

Question about your tires: Since it came with the Savas, and you changed to Michelin PS, did you notice any change in wobble behavior? Do you know what the wobble is or what to look for?

I had no wobble for way over 12K miles with a front Sava, and then I changed to the Michelin PS--and with it came the wobble

I'm loving the colour coded transmission case! The whole scoot looks really 'smooth' - Fantastic 8)

I think you should do the stripes to follow the turn signals and horn cover lines.

No doubt to say I like this GTS

Just got the blinkers and tailight lenses back from the tinter, thought I'd update this thread!

Very nice, the tinted lenses look great. 8)

(he has done great work on our VW/Audi lenses in the past)

for the GTS we did......
light/med on the blinkers
light for the rear tailight

think we paid John an extra 10 bucks to mask off the window on the bottom of the tail light for the license plate light to pass thru

I was just re-looking at this for the tint link and I wanted to ask if you were going to put the Givi-box back on it? Or will you use the G-B for just long distance riding?
Also removing the chrome cover thingy on the muffler is a nice touch on your unchrome idea.

It's an Oberon Bar End Mirror and it's for sale over here...
[topic20339] The Givi Box looks like a boil so I only put it on for overnight runs.
It's doofy, but practical! It will be going back on for a camping rally next weekend.

I took the exhaust heat shield off to powdercoat it black and it never made it back on. Now I don't even need it...

Just got the Leo Vince pipe today and sprayed it with some High Heat black paint.
If you like the de-chromed look, I'll trade you if you want.

Stay tuned... Custom Seat goes on next week.

My seat showed up today
I think the lines of the GT seat are much smoother than that of the GTS so I had a GT seat recovered with Blue leather with a custom inlay....



The leather is so soft and the seat much more comfy. I'm a happy girl right now.

Have been checking this thread now and then. Is looking very cool. I love the seat. you are saying, that you are a happy girl right now..but..uhmmm..something tells me you will think of another project. hehe.. what about a windscreen with a green trim?
