Hi,

I'd really appreciate if someone could give me advice on this problem:

The cable which holds the left handlebar has snapped on my scooter, not the clutch cable itself but the one which provides tension. How could I solve this problem?

Thanks

Paul

i'm assuming you're talking about the cable you pull to disengage the clutch? it's all one piece, from your handle all the way to the clutch arm.

kinda hard to read from the info you posted. the clutch arm itself is where the actual "tension" is created, there is no "cable" holding any handlebar on.

Thanks for your response.

So there's 2 cables on the left handle bar, one which is the clutch cable and a second one which I don't know what it is... It's this second one which has snapped. Basically my scooter is stuck in third gear and i can't change gears because the handlebar just rotates without engaging.

Probably still sounds confusing, my technical knowledge is somewhat 'limited'.

Cables don't hold your bars on. Inside a P series headset you've got a plastic doohicky that the shifter cables would go into that fits on the end of the shifter tube. on the end of the plastic thing is a metal clip that holds it all together.

You probably lost that metal clip.

Ohhh ... you mean you snapped one of your gear cable INNERS. Just order a new one for a p-series. they are under $5.00

Great, thanks!

So it's the shifter cable which has snapped, the metal clip is still in place. Do i need to get an inner clutch cable or is it something different?

don't get a clutch inner ...it's different... that's .5mm thicker and has a bigger barrel end on it.

Just get a "p-series gear cable inner"

the two cables you're looking at are GEAR cables...the CLUTCH cable goes inside the shift tube to the clutch lever. the gear cables push/pull the gear selector behind the kickstart lever as you rotate the handle. the clutch cable runs from the lever to the clutch arm under the motor. so there are a total of 3 cables going to the left side of the headset.

your "inner" (the actual steel cable) probably broke inside the "outer" cable (the gray colored, plastic coated tube). pick-up a couple inner cables, and keep some in your glovebox.

disconnect the cable from the selector box, pull the steel inner out from the headset end, lightly oil up your new cable, and fish through the outer on headset end until it comes back out by the selector.

be patient, it takes some finesse.

I was thrown off too by the use of the word clutch.. It's definitely a shifter cable by your description.

With your gear box cover off nuetral is the second high spot on the bat wing. Check this link out it explains everything. I also recommened the cable adjutment tool (third hand). You can purchase these online at scooterworks.com or sometimes your local shop might carry them.
