How would you compare the Stella to the PX 150? Better, worse, good value for the money, etc.

It seems that they are nearly identical. Would a Vespa dealer work on a Stella? If so could they do the warrantee work?

I know that the price is about $1000 less.

I've been thnking about getting a Stella but the nearest dealer is 120 miles from me. I little much for maintenance, etc. but not too far to buy from.

You'd probably get better answers at the Stella Speed Forum http://forums.stellaspeed.com/. Why not ask your local Vespa dealer about servicing a Stella directly. Our reply would only be a guess.

they are pretty much the same motor (except the stella has reed valves)
even the hop up parts line right up

the real beauty of the PX/Stella is you can work on them yourself

i've ridden the stella and new px back to back.
the px is what you would expect. a model that has been refined over 25yrs of production. the clutch is softer than a jelly donut, and the shifting is buttery smooth goodness. the ride beautious. the fit and finish is magnificient. i felt like i was cheating on my road hardened 79 p125 with a 18yr old prom queen. *blush*

the stella stacks up, for the most part. it's the little things like the paint, the fit and finish, the way the gears mesh and how the throttle feels that mainly set it apart. i mean it's not to say that it's "bad" but it just isn't sooo perfect.

if i had the cash i'd drop it on a brand new px without blinking an eye.

if i could get a stella in SoCal with warranty i would.

if you just have to have a vespa, don't let the stella peeps bust on ya for "paying too much for the same thing" because it really is better.
but if you're weighing the options the stella is a great buy and a really, really, really good bike.

just my .02 worth

best,
-greasy
