I'm new here and intend to buy a new GT200.
I,m wondering if and what discount I can expect from a Dealer on a new GT 200. I know on cars it is usual to get at least 25% off.
How is this with Vespa Scooters?

25% ?
Not including rebates and holdback, there is maybe 10% to 12% markup in cars. I got $100 off in June '04 but I had to ask several times before they sighed and rolled their eyes and said, "Oh, aaaaalright..." They had only been available for a few months and were selling briskly. For a short time this summer my dealer in Denver had 20+ in stock and offered $400 off MSRP. They are one of the highest volume dealers in the U.S. so it might have been part of a deal they struck with Piaggio. Ain't it true that people typically pay MSRP plus a setup or handling charge? |

On a Vespa? Unlikely, with their image, even if the manufacterer didn't keep a hand in the pricing, I doubt any legitimate dealer would give much if any of a price break. It depends on things, new stuff gets very little, also how much of a hand the manufaturer keeps in the pricing, after all, that is the suggested price, dealers can sell it for whatever they want allowing for the law.

Maybe you can work out free labor to put on accessories if you buy them, but I don't think you're gonna get anywhere with price. If cost is a concern, why not look to the secondary market? Same GT that original owner paid $5710.75 for in 6/2004 I bought for $3990 in 1/05 with 1,000 miles on. That's a 30% depreciation in 6 months. I rode this bike for 1,000 miles and then sold it myself when I found my 2004 that was fully loaded and only had 124 miles on it. Be patient and find a used bike if cost is a concern... there are plenty if you look, and deals are to be found. Rich |

Discount on new Vespa?
I asked a couple of times about this when I bought mine. It was not even replied to. I paid the MSRP plus setup etc. I do not remimber the total price for everything but it was no discount. Got no break on any add-ons either.
Since then the dealer has cut me a couple of breaks on labor etc. I think this is how some dealers do business. When it comes time to get my next scoot I will go back to the same dealer. Good luck on any discount, Beale. |
