Apparently the turn signal indicators on the LX are something like 10mm closer together than on the ET, and are too close for DOT approval. So the underbar turn signal indicators were added, and the ones on the legshield are running lamps.

There are a couple people who have or are going to rewire them, which I thought about doing. But in traffic, it really is easier to see them higher up on the bars, despite that they look like an ugly afterthought.

In the mirrors, I can't see the signals due to the damn headlight being so friggin' bright, when my wife is riding behind me. The 'running' lights, however, vastly improve the visibilty of her scoot.
