I needed a new rear tire (would not pass VA State Annual Inspection) and 2nd scheduled maintenance on my et4. My mechanic at Vespa Charlottesville, Woody, called me last wednesday to let me know the tire were there and schedule an appointment to install it. Told him I was about due for service. We scheduled it for friday (Veteran's Day). Great! I was off and they were open. We're off to a good start already.
I hung out in the shop during the whole tire replacement and maintenance and saw and learned more than I could have ever gotten out of any manual. In the 2 hours it took, he took the time to answer my 1000's of questions + I got the up close and personal view from someone who knew what he was doing, adjusting valves and rocker arms, opening the case and inspecting the belt, clutch and rollers including explaning how all of parts worked in relation to each other (Although I've studied the workshop manual, I don't think I could have found the rollers on my own. I now feel pretty confident I could replace them on my own, it I had one of them thar clutch holdin' tools) air filter replacement ($4) and fuel line replacement (under warranty), etc.
He even took it next door and got it inspected for me. Probably could have shaved an hour off the service call if I hadn't been there "helping" :? but I think I got my moneys worth.
I hear others on this and the BBS who say it takes a week or more to get service done. Just wanted to relate my experience. Props to Vespa Charlottesville and in particular to Woody who is the MAN!
Anyone else have any positive experiences to relate?
