I'm looking to get rid of my stock exhaust and am looking into which exhaust is best for the LX150. Any suggestions?

with that motor i like how the Scrorion pipe sound & looks
the PM pipe is sweet but will run you a little extra

Sito+ looks & weighs as much as stock but i swear it made a differance on my brothers LT150

i hate the TriForce pipe

I've been trying to find a Scorpion pipe but they all seem out of stock so far on my search. I too like how it looks in the pictures anyhow. Have to wait and see when they get in stock.

I've got a Sito Plus on my LX. While it's not a dramatic increase in acceleration and top speed, it is definitely noticeable. I picked mine up at NoHo Scooters here in L.A. for $130, so the price for performance was great. I'd recommend it.

What kind of "noticable" are we talking about? Details, man! Spill it!

Oh, and does that void your warranty?

it won't void your warranty.
it is a real PITA to install.
you'll need some differrent hardware & may need to grind the bracket on the pipe. a party on both ends of it.

Bear in my mind, these are all just observations as I've done no controlled testing. The acceleration is solid and strong from 15mph to 55mph, even 60 mph on flat ground. From there, it's a slow but steady climb up to 68mph, my top speed on the flats, whereas the top speed with my stock was 64mph and it was a bit tough getting up there.

Some people have told me that the Sito Plus shouldn't add any more top speed, but I'm a light guy (145lbs) so maybe that has something to do with it. I definitely notice more power riding two up with my (also light) girlfriend. Whereas stock top speed was 55mph, I can hit 60 no problem.

I might be crazy, but I think there's a little less acceleration off the line up to 15mph. But maybe it's just my expectations playing tricks with my observations.

After reading the above, and what I wrote here: http://www.modernvespa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=240 it would seem the Sito Plus on an LX 1250will make it as quick as (or even a little quicker than) an standard LX 150

From the ET4 side, I've fooled around with both a Sito Plus and my PM pipe. The PM gave me WAY more acceleration (ie, take off speed, passing speed), but my overall top speed was not affected by either one.

Thats cool to know that changing the exaust does not void the warranty. I was going to wait till my warranty ran out to upgrade, but now I guess just need to pick the best exaust to fit my needs. So far I seem to think the Scorpion looks like a good choice, I really would like to pick up my top end just a bit, any other simple mods that anyone can recommend that might get a little more top end?

Hey Spock, With your ET4, what weights are you using? I recall from other posts that you changed the variator (to a Multivar, I think?). I have the PM pipe and I'm looking to do the 190cc kit and variator upgrade soon - after I get my Bitubo suspension fitted. I'd appreciate any advice/experiences you can pass on.

What other upgrades can one get away with and still keep the warranty valid? I'm thinking of getting a multivar, but I'm guessing that'd cross the line.

If I were you I'd contact the Vespa dealer who would be doing any warranty work and have them verify that an aftermarket pipe won't void your warranty. My dealer specifically told me that any modification to the engine with after market products is going to void the warranty. Better to be safe than pissed off down the road!

what's to hate?

it's light, (very) doesn't crack the mount bolts or brackets like the PM, it makes getting at the back wheel a breeze, one bolt and a spring...

It is kinda loud though.

I like the idea of the Titanium pipe. Pretty hot stuff. What have people paid for them? Also, are the pipes for the liquid and air cooled engines the same?

I mix my weights. I use the 11.5gm and 14gm weights in the variator. That way I have two complete sets of weights with very similar results. It's the best of both worlds. There are several people that do this. I got it from ET4inMonterey, from the BBS.
Are you actually having someone else put your suspension on for you? I admit, the front shock is a pain because the spring on the bitubo is so much wider than the stock. I'd imagine the rear would be easy enough.

sorry, i should've quantified that.....
changing out to a sito won't void your warranty because it's basically a stock replacment pipe.
putting on *ANYTHING* high performance will be suspect.
at the end of the day, it's the manufacturer that upholds the warranty and the tech that has to go to bat on it...

ultimately it's up to the dealer...
if they want to do performance work, and try and warranty it, that's their business. but like shag was saying, you could get left out in the cold on the back end of it.
say you go to the dealer and they install a 190, variator, clutch, cdi and all that jazz. no rev limiter on the cdi and you cook the motor. the dealer goes to warranty it and the manufacturer calls bullshit. guess who's left with the bill?

if you want to go fast buy a motorcycle.

Thanks mate, I'll file that away for the future upgrade.

I had thought about doing the suspension work myself, but while the rear end looks straightforward, the front looks a bit tricky. My local dealer has offered to do the work (for a price!) and I think I might go that way.

Does the Bitubo front shock fit under the standard fender or do you have to remove it completely ??

Can you please elaborate on the reasoning for mixing two variator roller weights? And, what do you mean by "It's the best of both worlds"?

i take offence to the "busy looking" portion of your comment. he he he.
however, i will not argue the horn rims portion.

I mix my weights. I use the 11.5gm and 14gm weights in the variator. That way I have two complete sets of weights with very similar results. It's the best of both worlds.
Can you please elaborate on the reasoning for mixing two variator roller weights? And, what do you mean by "It's the best of both worlds"?
I was actually responding to Spock's post (mixed up the "quote" :? ). Basically light weights hook up earlier (at lower revs), heavier weights later. Mixing the weights should in theory balance out the driveline and give a smooth engagement.

Am I right guys ?

Has anyone tried really light or really heavy weights ?

Thanks Greasy, you are the man with the mucho knowledge!! I will do talk to my dealer here, see what they say, and proceed with caution. I will eventually do an exaust for sure, but when..... hmmmm. I have a question though, what are the weights and rollers I see people talking about? I don't know too much about the motorworkings of a scooter, but I do about an 86' CJ7 jeep with mondo electrical gremlins
