I'm thinking of switching to oversize tires on the LX. Has anyone try these tires? Or have any tire suggestions for the LX/ET?

My rear is due for replacement this summer, but it'll be my first time. I don't have much research under my belt at this point, so I can't be of much help. Sorry... However, I'll watch this thread to see what others say, as I'm curious myself.

Heard of this being done but have not tried it...I too am curious!

For the ET150 (as well as LX) a 130/70-10 rear should fit, this is the serial tyre size on the Sfera 125.

Why?

i can see the desire to upsize the rear, however i'd suggest staying with the stock size up front.

more than likely the larger size is going to slow the steering response, add more unsprung weight and may possibly rub on the suspension.

Will the 130 fit on ET2 cases? I have a few new zippy 130/70X10s that have been collecting dust and I wouldn't mind using them on the ET2.

Yes, I'm trying to get a little more top end. I also want to be able to lean into the turns more and get a little more stability.

I'm basically trying to close the performance gap between my LX190 and the GT200, while maintaining the size of the LX (e.g. length, width and weight).

I recognize that the I cannot get the same performance (air cooled vs liquid cooled; 2 valves vs 4 valves; 11/10" wheels vs 12" wheels) but I want to get as close as possible.

The LX has modified with the Malossi cylinder kit; kevlar belt; variator (9.5/14 g weights); and Bitubo front and back. I tried the Scorpion pipe but it was too noisy for my liking.

I'll try the rear up-size and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Thanks. I really have gotten to like the stock Pirellis but the rear is starting to square off a bit and I have those nice chunks of rubber just collecting dust.

i mounted a 130/70 to the back of an ET2 today without any issues.

the stocker pirellis are nice, but they wear out soooo quick.

the SL26 is nice too, but i don't care for the tread pattern.

Have the oversize on now. The bike accelerates and slows down very smoothly now. Road imperfections are not as noticeable. In general the ride is a lot more comfortable and consistent/predictable (some will call it more stable). I'm leaning into turns with more confidence too.

I have not notice any top-end improvement but I have had a chance to take it on the highway yet.

I would recommend going to the larger wheel 130/70.

The only draw back is that the rear wheel touches the ground when on the centre stand.

What about a 120/90 on the rear of an et2? It'll be a bit taller sidewall than the 130/70, but won't have quite as much width. I don't know if it will clear, though. They have sl26s on tiresunlimited I was thinking of trying out, but no 130/70 or 120/70 (stock size). The upgear would be nice, but would it clear the inner fender?

I doubt a 90 aspect ratio would fit. I have 130/70X10 on the rear and a 3.50X10 on the front of my ET2. Handles awesome. When I first just put the 130/70 zippy 1 on the rear it handled a little funny with the mismatched tires (still had the pirelli on the front). Once I went to the slightly taller and slightly more narrow front it's been sweet.

You'll gain about two miles per hour. Had the Pirellis, wore em out in 1,800 miles. Went to some tire called a Sava Elegance I think it was? Got I think about two thousand out of it maybe a bit more. Now there's a (lemme check) Conti Zippy1 and the mileage is much improved. Just about to round five thou tomorrow.. Not as sticky as the Pirelli but worlds better than that Sava.

Oh, and still on the original front stock factory Pirelli front skin!

My top end was speedo read 74 mph. Now its roughly 72 but that could also be worn rollers.

is there a whitewall tire with good grip at this size? I think my black Vespa S 125 would look very gangstery with whitewalls but I'd also like to improve its ride with a bigger tyre (if a bigger tyre improves the ride - with motorcycles this wasn't always the case..)

any suggestions?

I have a new to me 2001 ET4 that needs tires. I've been doing a bunch of reading on people running oversize tires. Overall, I like the idea of better handling and cornering confidence.

Right now I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on 120/70-10 front and 130/70-10 rear.

I have yet to actually ride the ET4 150 cc. I need a new seat and the current tires are from '01 🤯 and '13 😳. I have no plans on driving it on the highway or anything faster than city boulevards (45-ish mph). It makes sense that there would be a slight acceleration difference due to the extra mass and diameter on the rear wheel. In reality, is it something significant?

It seems there are fewer options than years past. Any suggest on brands here in 2023?

It looks like the Mitas Force Touring SC should come in those sizes. I have them on my P200 & P125 (177 kitted) and like them.

The Heidenau K80 SR should also be available. Any thoughts on the K80?

don't put anything bigger than 100/90 on the front, it will handle terribly.

the 130/70 out back is about as big as you can go. anything with a 90 profile is likely to rub the case.

Heidenau makes great tires, as does Michelin. budget wise, some of the kenda, vee and shinko tires are fine. and they all make appropriately sized matching sets.

Sticks like glue. Great tire for super moto.
