Modern Vespa

First, what an AWESOME place for information...I have learned more here about my Vespa in a month than I knew about my motorcycle in 10 years!

Second I drool over the Vince/Booster set up but I have one question??? I have read all the threads but one piece of info escapes my tiny brain.

Why does Scooterwest (wow what a great place) say that the Power booster is FOR CLOSED COURSE RACING ONLY, NOT BE USED ON THE STREET. ?
Is it illegal or just immoral in some states? (not like either really matters)
Does it risk long term damage to the engine to use it all the time?

It's not legal to change the emission characteristics of a vehicle operating on the streets.

Hi bagdrew. I don't have the Vince side of your drool-worthy combo, but I did just get the booster. It was recommend and installed by the scooter wizards at Motorsport Scooters / Scooterwest. I can't imagine they'd try to talk me into anything that's illegal or immoral.

i worked as auto technician for car dealership for 7 years and had a smog license.As far as i know You can do nothing that will alter your vehicles exhaust emissions(What comes out the pipe) If the part or device has a carb # then it is legal to put on your vehicle and even leave it on while they smog your vehicle. I know there are programs out there that are testing emissions from motorcycle and scooters to set standards (they used my 95 Kawasaki ninja 250 in one of there test programs) They sent me a letter 2 weeks after I bought it., They even gave me 20 bucks every time i brought it in for gas and even toped off my tank before i left

Thanks for the info! Looks like it is very easy to disable/unplug it if their are any emissions testing issues. Has your scoot been running good after the switch? How about milage? I put in an order yesterday from Scooterwest and posed the same question to them so we will see what they say,,,, Sounds like your happy with it so all is good.....
