I am a new scooter owner. I bought a S150 and since new it is hard staring cold. It takes 3 trys to get it started, but does not stall when it is started. starts fine when warm. Idle speed and mixture adjusments are right on. is this normal or should I have the dealer check it out?

try giving some throttle once the engine kicks over. it is carburated and not EFI.

Cold start problem
I have had the same disappointment with my brand new lx150. Three tries does it without throttle. I suppose I can deal with it but i expect more from such an expensive scooter. My friend has a 08 250 and hers starts right up first try. I was wondering have you noticed weird issues when you go downhill? My actually cut out completely one time and acts like it might cut out consistently. Thoughts?

Your downhill cutting out issue sounds like a carburetor tuning "issue" - not a problem, and issue - that should be easily sorted out by your dealer if you're not comfortable tweaking with things yourself.

As for comparing your LX to your friends '08 250 (I assume you mean a Vespa GTS), of course there are going to be differences. That is simply the nature of carbureted engines versus fuel injected ones. You have to take the good with the bad.

I think many people today take for granted that when they get in their car and turn the key, it immediately starts. When their scooter doesn't do the same, it is immediately assumed that something must be wrong.

Well the reason for the GTS starting right away is because of it being fuel injected and yours is not. If it is cold it takes a few times. Thats just the way it is. If you are bumbed out you can always up-grade to fuel injection. Good luck! Enjoy-
