Now that's a great idea......except for the rain we're getting right now. Krystal's are awesome. I've done the WC thing and won't make any effort to go back. Krystal's will always be in my sights.

I need to find a Krystal in Decatur. That might come in handy.

While reading this I was thinking: I live 20 miles from Wichita. Why have I never had a White Castle slider? I looked it up and there are none in Wichita any more. Or in Kansas, for that matter. The last one in Wichita closed in 1938. I'll have to check them out when I am traveling.

Krystal would be fine if they didn't screw up their burgers up with mustard. I'd choose WC any day.

Someone told me a White Castle exists in Mount Vernon Washington State. Can anyone confirm this?

Looks like there are no White Castle's west of Minnesota or Missouri.

Too funny. I just got back from riding my ET4 to a White castle here in Columbus; the corperate headquarters. I wanted to try a couple of their new Chicken Jalapeno sliders. They were great! I've bween eating Sliders for the last 60 years.

I remember one in Richmond VA back in the 70's. Doesn't seem to be there anymore. Great burgers when you've been out drinking and want a bite to eat. Sorta like our diners in NY. I remember telling friends how great this diner i had eaten at after a nite of debauchery. We went there the next week and it was the most disgusting food i'd ever eaten. Drunks would make good or lousy (depends on your take on it) food critics.

I went to school in Indianapolis and used to go down to the White Castle on 16th street 1968-71. It was always a busy place and occasionally someone with some hot watches or rings trying to sell them to you. Indianapolis wasn't hot and humid enough for me in the summer, so I moved to Texas.

gballfc tells the truth! I drove by the location a number of times but never stopped in. Perhaps that's why it soon became, and still is, a Burger King.

Here in St. Louis we have plenty of White Castle and Steak 'n' Shake shops. I live close to multiple locations of each.

Strangely, I went about 40 years before ever eating White Castle, and for the life of me, I don't really know why. I think they're fine. They've branched out into fish sandwiches, Chicken Rings, and some other featured items, but still have a large following. I joined a team at work who, on team members' birthdays, would bring in a WC Crave Case (n=30) to share for breakfast as a group.

Steak 'n' Shake did three things well: grill-seared thinburgers, thin (shoestring) french fries, and the aforementioned shakes made to-order. The food is still good, but at least at the STL locations, service has gone right down the tubes. Surly help, endless wait. I haven't gone in for a meal in years, only for late-night drive-thru shakes.

Steak and Shake are originally from Bloomington Illinois. I really like the SteakBurgers there. The fries are ok. Service here in Northern Illinois is pretty good. Especially in suburban locations in Chicago.

I'd rather go to Culver's though. The ButterBurgers are much better.


This has inspired me to bring in some White Castle for my 4th Anniversary at work. Or maybe just the customary Donuts.
