my front brake has squeeked since day one. work great, it just seemed to be more annoying than anything. i take it in for service, they cant really figure it out, but when i leave it was no longer squeaking. until i was just about home, then it started again. then less than a week later the damn thing broke down on me, so who knows.

My new rear brakes at 12,000 miles now squeak. Four bikes, and it's my only screamer. I find it unacceptable. I'm going to take them out again and scrub them down a bit.
You're lucky that it's the front. They are very easy to work on. The requires removal of the muffler, bracket, and rear wheel. |

My front has squeaked since day one under light pressure.
It does not squeak under hard braking. Is is annoying in traffic, but I have just learned to live with it. |

This highlights part of the functional beauty of ear plugs.
I wear them more often than not because I seem to always be above 35 mph and I am also a bass player so I want to hear for as long as I can, but those ear plugs have shown me that going deaf (when they are in) can be peaceful AND annoying! I have grown to like the "whirring" noise, and my brakes squeak a bit as I am slowing at the end of my driveway, so you are normal, Dr. Himfilth. Now, go turn up that Rammstein! |

I've been told to apply grease to the backside of the brake pad to reduce squealing. The whirring is normal as mentioned above.

My front brake is sqeaking under light normal pressure. Should I use a brake cleaner spray to fix it? My Blue GTS only has 1000 miles on it so far. 1000 miles of pure fun!
Any suggestions on the squeaking issue? It seemed to arrive the day after I washed my Vespa. |

Take the pads out and put a thin smear of copper grease on the backs of them. Replace. Continue in silence.

Yeah, my front is a little squeaky, but only about 30% of the time.
I still can't get used to the whirring bit. My Scarabeo had a front disc, and I never heard it whirr like my GTV. Maybe has something to do with the size of the disc, I dunno. It isn't terribly annoying, but it did have me concerned for a while. |
