I used to own this beast... a 1969 Nissan Patrol. Only 2600 of them were ever imported to the US, and there are probably less than 500 left. Super rare, but so ugly that nobody cares about them.

Really built for third-world environments with no roads. There was even a supplied attachment with which you could hand-crank the engine if your battery went flat out in the bush.

I like the filtered recirculating air system (vents with mesh, under the windshield!)

Looks in the same spirit of my old Rover... you don't need and 8 litre engine for that sort of thing to be badass 8)

I used to have a 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC. Black tinted windows, all leather interior, premium sound system, roomy back seat, automatic air shocks that raised or lowered the ride height depending on speed. I loved that car until the engine started having weird problems and the air shocks failed. Oh, and the day the entire electrical system died.

One thing I don't miss about driving cars, I was going through my Photobucket and found this old photo:

I had Renaults for a number of years, R8, R10, and R15. Don't ask me why. It certainly wasn't because of their reliability (which they weren't) or the abundance of parts (which wasn't there).

Now, I have a Toyota minivan and Honda Civic.

2000 Isuzu Trooper (Not terribly exotic, but it's an orphan now, so somewhat unusual.) It replaced my 1987 Trooper II.

BTW, my very first car was a red and white Hillman Super Minx Station Wagon that my parents brought back from a trip to Europe in 1963. You can bet there were not many of those in the US!

1988 Audi 90 sedan. I removed the gas engine and installed a 1.6 diesel from a VW Golf. I can get about 55mpg (I used to get 32 with the gas burner). I run it on biodiesel. Carbon neutrality and heated seats!

This has been very interesting, and predictable, I thought.
I've owned several Volvos and Saabs and two Triumph spitfires as well.
I'm currently building a copy of a Lotus 7. I have pictures at www.Texaslocost.com there is a link to my Vespa site as well and pictures of several rides I've taken on the scooter lately.

For a brief period, I owned a BMW 1600. When purchased it from my father, it was sinking into the ground. When I sold it, it had sunk and we had to dig it out.

+1 I agree. I want our next project to be an older car. I have no idea where we'd put it, we are running out of room.
