After using my LX quite intensively, small 'footprints' appeared on the body.

This is caused by friction of my boots that is somehow scraping off the paint at the heels.
My dealer brought it up during maintenance. I thought it was a common problem, but apperantly not...

Does anyone else have this problem? It might just be the white painted version LX that has this problem.

PS: I am always wearing ordinary soft soled boots, so boots itself can not be the problem.

Get the Vespa rubber OEM floor matt and you will never see it

It looks better with it on IMO.

I haven't noticed any paint wear in that location after two years of riding my GTS.

No need to "spurr" these machines on - they are pretty quick as it is!

Are you sure it sin't just rubber from your shoes transferring onto the paintwork. A clay bar will get rid of it...

Bonnie
I believe its a 'whitie' thing...just attached some Italian flag bumpers there as camouflage

benny,

I think the GTS has the advantage of having iron footpegs at that location.
I trust that these will prevent the same thing happening on my maiden GTS

@dougl65,

Nope, the paint has definitely come off there

The sticker idea is great for covering up small blemishes. I have several on my scooter.

My boots scuff my paint all the time, on all my scooters. The paint isn't worn off (in my case), it just leave scuff marks.

Clearly, this is why I have seen people on LX's with flip flops on lately. Maybe they will just go barefoot if the flip flops eat the paint as well. Maybe you could wear a detailers mitt like a boot. You would look like gargamel, but your floorboards would be incredibly shiny. gargamel:

Why not clean the area in question and then cover with a clear piece of good packing tape? Either that or use white plastic tape? Tapes like that are usually available in a about a 2"width, so they would cover adequately.

My LX has had a Vespa floormat on it since it was new a year ago. Yesterday, I took it off for a wash and wax. The running boards and wear strips were in 100% new condition. A few small pebbles and some dust, but a hose and car wash made it shine again.

I know there are people here who say the mats will rub the paint off, but that is not my experience. Keep it clean underneath the mat and you should have good service without damaging the paint.

I would agree with that - except make sure you get some paint on it first - the rubber mat will hold water in and you'll have a nice rust spot in no time.

I have a diamond white LX150 and also get the scuff marks from my white tennis shoes. My scuffs come of with the spray Original Polish (used to be called Honda Polish). I try to remember to keep my heels away. I'll keep you fix in mind if I need it down the road.

I got black marks that came with my scooter off with Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Be sure to dampen it. No scratches and it came right off...unless the paint is wearing off and it isn't just a "mark".

In our shop when we clean the bike after service we use a dab of nail polish remover and those spots come right off. We then use our regular scooter cleaner right after that so the clear coat doesn't get eaten.

Works like magic !!

On my bicycles, particularly mountain bikes, it's not uncommon to develop similar results as the result of cable rub. I usually remedy it by putting electrical tape of the same color in the spot where it rubs. Should work with a white scoot as white vinyl tape is readily available. I've used clear vinyl on other colors to prevent the marring from spreading.

There's an electric push button start. No need to kick it.

When I re-build my GT from the heap of scrap I bought it as, I installed two new fold-out passenger foot pegs. It wasn't long before I noticed how scratched they were.

Having broken on foot my wife insisted I wear my boots. My boots metal dressings above the heel. My heels were scratching the footpegs. I wear different boots now.
