Good question. I always see it along with easy. Like the Easy Peasey Scooter Posse.

It sounds to me like it comes from East London where to confuse the coppers minor criminals developed a kind of language to hide their real intent from eavesdroppers. A lot of it involved rhymes. Like in America 86 means no more service show them out. Rhymes with Nix.

Perhaps some linguist can help us out here.

I always thought it was used in the lemon squeezy detergent ads in the UK in the 1970s. As I recall, a little girl complains to her aunt that the dishes are greasy. Her mother admonishes her and then produces the Lemon Squeezy. The results are of course astoundingly successful and the girl says "easy peasy lemon squeezy".

However don't take this as gospel!!!!!

cockney rhyming slang....
Courtesy of Urban dictonary.com

Here you go guys....."That's peasy"......
1. easy peasy
(uk) very easy (short for easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy)
18 pints? easy-peasy!!

2. easy peasy
the first half of a rhyming phrase with several alternate second halves, all of which connote an activity or a result that is, respectively, simple to perform or achieve.
Tie your shoes? Why that's easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Mystery revealed....
