I park my ET4 at the front of my house about 8-10 foot away from the public footpath, there is no fence, wall or gate, just tarmac. I generally check the tyre pressures nearly every time I go for a ride, my worry being that someone may have tampered with the tyre valves and let out some air (I keep the scooter covered). Do those of you who park in this type of location do the same, or am I worrying over nothing? Surely if someone let air out of the tyre they wouldn't bother with replacing the cap, so couldn't I use this as an indicator. Previously when I rode motorbikes (many moons ago and parked in a back garden) I only checked the tyre pressures every month or so.

What I would like to know is have any of you had your tyres tampered with, or am I worrying over something that is unlikely to occur?

I park outside, but not in a location that would be easy for someone to come and tamper with my scooter...so I can't answer to that part of your question.

However, I check my tire pressure daily anyway. Even if no one tampers with your tires, everything is riding on them anyway, so to speak.

I'd rather be paranoid (it's not paranoia really, just good practice) about checking my tires often rather than being paranoid about worrying about them when I am already on the road.

i don't use the gauge to check more than once every week or two, but i do give the tyres a kick before riding to make sure that nobody's done anything silly to them - i live in an area where scooter tampering is pretty common.

I'm paranoid. Even though my scooter is parked in a locked garage, I check the tire pressure and condition before every ride. It's a habit I got into riding a tandem bicycle for many years.

Having a tire fail on any two wheeler is not worth taking a chance with. Tire failure on the tandem while decending at over 40mph with only a bicycle helmet for protection would be a major disaster.

I check nearly daily now. I had found 4 nails in my tires in the course of two weeks, and one nail in the tire of our other bike. I can't imagine what posseses people to act like such complete twats, but they there are.

Wendy It appears that this is something that really bothers you , so I would suggest as others ahve that you get a tyre pressure guage and check them at least once every day, that is the only way you will allay any fears you have

My bikes sit outside on the drive. I check pressures once in a while, no religious routine. You'd notice straight away if the pressure was severely down.
