I have been speaking with Xena they have offered everyone on this forum a discount if they want a Xena Lock

You can get a XZN-6 Stainless Steel for $57.00 including shipping, or a ZXX-6 Yellow for $56.00 inc shipping.

This lock was designed for scooters and is one of the highest selling security devices in Italy, you can even get a discount with certain insurance companies, one being Gieco..

So guys/gals get one of these locks or all of our insurance polices are going to go up if scooters keep getting stolen, My friend in Miami was told by the cops that thefts of scooters and motorcycles have doubled this year
**Update i have just been informed that the lock will not fit the ET$ due to the size of the disc, but they do offer a cool cable so you can have an alarmed cable**** they will give you a discount on that also!!

Ordering Instructions

Send email to: sales at xena security usa dot com
Subject line: Modern Vespa XZN-6/XZZ-6Y
Body: Input your name, billing address, shipping address if different
He will email you back with the paypal account. You can pay with your paypal account or with credit card.

Xena offer
Thanks Roger for bringing this over here to Modern Vespa and answering my question of whether this offer still stood.

From the photo, I gather that's a black LXS that the lock is on? If so, it should fit an LX150 despite the ET fitment issue, I assume.

Thanks for posting this! I've been considering a disc lock these past couple months....

The scoot can be moved if you put something under the wheel to stop it rotating.

Otherwise the lock stops the wheel turning, and if you forget to take it off and start the engine, the lock breaks the front disc.

They are easily forgotten about!

I have one
I'll give my take one this disk lock as I have one, although you should do a search, lots of opions.
First off the alarm will keep you from forgetting to remove it, move the scoot and get alarm, can't imagine trying to drive off with that sound.
It is quite loud, but probable gets as much responce as a car alarm, still a deterrent.
Difficult part is getting disk lock off disk before alarm goes off, only couple seconds, I can do it most of the time.
I think it is worthwhile.

My first post on this forum. Recently bought the Xena XZN6. It seems to be well constructed and works exactly as advertised. Fits the S disk brake. Very easy to slip it onto the disk. Very loud. It's a security device that works when you can't find something handy to throw a chain around. Bought it online from Tristan Mullane -- tristan at xenasecurityusa dot com

By they way... I am also very happy with my new S. It was an upgrade from a Honda Metropolitan, also a great scooter.

I received my Grip Lock and Xena Disc Alarm yesterday and immediately secured my scooter even though it sits in a locked garage. Both seem to be quality products. You can't be too careful in my neighborhood. I'm with State Farm so I'll call tomorrow and see if they offer a discount.

This seems like a better deter-ant locking system if your going to go this rout. Locks the braking system in, so the scooter can not be moved.

I use a New York Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Lock that is 5 Foot. Haven't had any issues yet. People look at the chain and say, "isn't that an over kill." Thats just the reaction I am looking for.

I bought the XZZ and it is okay. Fits my GTS 250. The local scooter shop had the XR1 and that definitely was too big. I wish the sound was louder. It does trip before I can get the alarm off the disc.

So I'm guessing the XZN that Skip bought is louder than the XZZ? 110 db seems pretty freakin loud in my book.

So am I understanding this correctly - the alarm engages before the lock can be removed? Doesn't it disactivate the minute you put the key in it?

Hmm, how to explane this one!! Lets see, the key has to be inserted into lock, then turned 180 degrees, at this point the lock button (that's what you put the key into) pops up. It isn't untill this point that the alarm is disarmed.
Ok, go ahead ask why this works like this?

So I'm guessing the alarm goes off the minute you put the key in and shake the thing?

That is kinda stupid - they could fix this by having a 5 second delay or something and the alarm would be turned off with a TURN of the key.

Getting it on without sounding the alarm is no problem. Position it on the disk and then push the button down to arm it, it will beep two times to let you know its armed.

As I said before, getting it off is the tricky part. I am successful 9 out 10 times now (wasn't that way in the begining thou).
I think I like it best because it keeps the curious from sittng on or otherwise molesting(sp) my scoot.
As always, if they want your scoot they'll get it no matter what you do.
A fan, I don't know, just like to see mis-information corrected.

Yeah, as I said before - they could fix this by having the alarm disengage as soon as they key is entered (or turned), or have a 5 second buffer before the alarm goes off.

There are other models and other colors. On Xena's website there is a page you can print out that has a paper template. You align the outer edge of the brake disc with it and can see where the pin goes for all the different Xena models. That way you are sure that are buying a model that has a pin that lines up with an opening in your disc.

I've had mine a couple of weeks. I haven't been able to take it off without setting off the alarm. But that doesn't bother me. I know it's working well.

Ops, I see that in my 23 post I neglected to say that as soon as you put the key in (actual distrurbe the lock) you have a set number of seconds before the alarm sounds. I believe it is five seconds, could be wrong on how many seconds, but point is you do get some time to disarm it.

What actually causes the alarm to go off? Touching the lock itself? Getting too close to the bike in general?

I'm intrigued by them, but I have this recurring vision of false alarms and frustrated passers-by knocking the scooter over and trashing it.

I think jarring jarring the scooter or moving it. I'm not sure why it woud go off unless somoene moved the scooter - which is the point no?

Yes I have one, I like it, but if you put the lock in the wrong position and/or a large truck passes by, the Alarm will go off.

But I feel much better knowing its on there.

Manny

Plus if you try to take off with it on (which Ive done many times) it wont hurt your scooter or you, but it will suprise you, you dont get much further than six inches (I dont know what that is in metrics).

Shock & Movement Sensor
All XENA disc-lock alarms and Bullett-lock alarms use shock and motion sensors. Any metal-on-metal contact trips the shock sensor; any significant movement trips its counterpart.

Took me awhile, but I found this:

Any metal-on-metal contact trips the shock sensor; any significant movement trips its counterpart.

So it shouldn't go off if someone walking by accidentally grazes the scoot, which is good to hear. And I assume "significant movement" includes lifting the scooter? Anybody with the lock have any experience parking near construction sites? It'd probably take me a half an hour to find a parking spot not near jackhammers these days.

Edit: That solves that then! If a loud truck can set this thing off, it's not for downtown Boston, though I might pick one up for my move to sleepy Brookline.

Is the XZN for LX/S and XZZ for GT/GTS?

Too bad there isn't a yelow version of the XZN - brighter color would probably ward off would-be theives more.

My Xena kit came with a decal of a large "X". I stuck it directly above the starter button so when I thumb the starter I look right at it. It reminds me to check for the disc lock. But that's just in case it hasn't already gone off. Typically, if I get to that point, it has already gone off.

Another way I remember its on, I use a reflective wrist band and wrap it around the rear brake handle. So I dont forget to take it off. When Im not using the lock, I wrap the wrist band around the lock itself and store it under the seat.

Once you start turning the key to arm the Xena you need to align it up with one of the holes in the disc. It will start beeping and if you can't get in the hole soon enough it will scream. Disarming it you have a few seconds and as you wiggle it off and take too much time it will scream. Once you get it off the disc and their is nothing between the optical sensor it will turn off.

i bought one of these (XR 1 in yellow - £40) on tuesday from my local honda dealer and have to say i'm pretty impressed with it.

i got it because i'm going on holiday and will be leaving my scooter parked in my front garden for 3 weeks and wanted a bit of extra peace of mind. (i've had 2 vespas stolen from my front garden in the last 7 years )

so far i've only set it off once by accident when removing it. it goes off if you give the bars a tug and it did go off this morning during my commute. it was in the pet carrier and i kind of liked that!

it's very solid and even comes with a spare battery pack. it seems to have alot of the advantages of an alarm and (to state the bloody obvious) is also a lock.

long live xena the vespa princess.
