I was watching Motorweek and I saw this cool new gas cap and was wondering if anyone has tried it yet? It is called the InStant Fill. Never touch your gas cap again! Simply fully insert the gas nozzle through the trap door in the InStant Fill Cap. How cool would this be if we could get it to replace the gas cap on our scooters.

Stant's new InStant Fill fuel cap makes refueling easier. It's easy to install and features a convenient trap door mechanism that accommodates the gas nozzle, eliminating the hassle of removing and replacing the cap when refueling. It also meets onboard diagnostic (OBDII) emission specifications.

InStant Fill caps are designed to appeal to the following consumers:

* Elderly or arthritic customers: With no cap to twist, a source of discomfort is eliminated for those with arthritis in fingers, hands or wrists.
* CInStant Fill Caplean-hands customers: There is no dirty, smelly gas cap to touch, so hands will not smell of gasoline after refueling.
* Timesavers: Pushing the gas nozzle through the trap door is quicker than removing and replacing a standard cap.
* Race fans: Fill up like NASCAR does during a pit stop.
* Customers that have experienced a lost cap: There is no chance to leave the cap on the gas pump and drive away, if you do not need to remove it to refuel.
* Environmentally conscious customers: Since the cap is never removed during the refueling process, fewer gasoline fumes will evaporate into the atmosphere.

InStant Fill HeaderAvailable in four part numbers to fit many late model cars in North America. Check our Online Catalog or the catalog chart where InStant Fill Caps are sold for the correct model for your car.

With InStant Fill Caps, Stant now takes away a little bit of the pain at the pump.

Quick, easy refueling with the InStant Fill Fuel Cap is as simple as inserting the nozzle fully and squeezing the trigger.

Uh, some of us do that for free.

I tried one of these on my car years ago. The very first time I used it (on a California vapor recovery pump), something on the end of the nozzle hooked on the inside of the cap and I couldn't get the pump back out again. After about 20 minutes of panic, I unscrewed the cap and nozzle as one piece, and then I was able to get the nozzle out.

I threw it away after that.

Thanks guys for the update. This would be perfect if they could find a way to keep the gas from spilling while keeping you from having to remove the cap. I contacted the manufacturer to see if they could send me one to try and I would do a write up on it. I don't mind buying it but I called around and no one has them in stock. We'll see what they say...

In all fairness, now that you've stimulated some rusty old neurons, the one I tried was a slightly different design -- the hold where you stuck the nozzle was a flush-mount flap that flipped back when you put the nozzle in. This one looks like the door uses a different mechanism.

Why would you throw it away? I would of taken it back from where I purchased it and told them to give me my loot back or shove the cao up their you know what.

True, true. Which is why it a great idea to sell inexpensive products on the internet (less than $20). Returning it isn't worth the hassle and often costs more than the product.

I could really use some help. Doesn anyone know the exact size of the cap? I have tried the local Kragen stores but they are out of the model I wanted and Emily is at work with the scooter. Stant is going to send me the right model to try but I do not know which size to tell them. Thanks.

Is fueling "as is" really that hard? IMHO this has more potential than that McDuff/McGruff/McCuff??? nightmare thingy that I saw most people trashing on here a while back. Sometimes I find myself starting to sound more and more like my Daddy...

"Danny...if they wanted it to be fancy with all those bells and whistles...and if that extra part was so much better...then they would have included it on the scooter in the first place!!!"

Then he would grump and walk away...

Trent,
David has something like this at the shop. It's a different brand but it does the same thing.
