Whether it's a project, building your own house, getting an advanced degree, running a marathon, etc.

Nothing really stands out for me, I remodeled our living room, dinning room and kitchen. I also replaced the cam in one of my motors. Took a crash course to get my A&P licence, other than that just a bunch of normal things.

What about you?

We just celebrated our 25th, so I'd have to say, stayed married.

Riding a 70cc alone from Texas to California, deciding to move in with my boyfriend, and trying to keep people from stealing my dog in the process.

Just finished a Masters Degree

still waiting on the University to give me my final result, but are very happy it is all over!

Getting out of my mom's uterus was challenging, and I was so young when I did it.

it's a whole lot easier getting in, than it is getting out.

I just spent five months away from my wife and children. No I wasn't in the 'Big House', I was on staff exchange to a Uni in Ireland. The separation was eased a little by the marvels of Skype and the www but coming home I have realised that I won't be doing such a thing again....unless they come with me.
I have, not so long ago, finished a Masters too...now about to embark on a PhD. Get back to me in a few years time and I will probably revise this post.

Getting out of Viet Nam alive.

Quit my good-paying tech job cold turkey to become a teacher. Tough to give up the money; easy to get up at the ass-crack of dawn to greet 30 4th Graders every morning.

I agree, why I was so astonished during my birth I did not speak for two years.

I fought and won my first and only official no holds barred cage fight. A lot of my body hurt after that, so I decided it was better just to watch than to compete.

Returning to college in my mid 30's, earning a bachelors and then masters degree in science (microbiology) at 40, changing careers to become a teacher... and working full time at nights to boot... oh yeah, and I got a vacation with the marines for several months (the reserves paid for some of my college).

Learning to fly. And mine.

I beat Cancer.

Yup, I'm with you there.
We'll be celebrating our 20th soon... That has been the toughest

But finally finishing the darned PhD was a close second

Moving with my wife 'cold turkey' to the states in my mid 30's and getting a career and a family going.

Just passed 18 years married last month, but that's been the best, most fun and all around greatest 18 years of my life (but don't tell the missus) .

being the full time caretaker of my wife as she battles heart cancer. That's now...you asked.

Staying married... will be celebrating our 40th anniversary this month and surviving two heart bypass surgeries. I plan to be hanging around for a LONG time...

Bumping uglies with someone I considered to be one of my dearest friends and trying to preserve the friendship, no matter what.

LOL

Being a sinlge parent, having a chronic illness and all the while being as grounded and full of life as I can be.

And loving challenges as well as rewards.

I did RAGBRAI XXX! My wife and in-laws lived in the midwest, and told me of the ride after we'd gotten married. I've spent time on a MTN bike as well as being a roadie in my younger days in Colorado.

I'd never experienced anything quite like RAGBRAI. And have never had so much fun on my TREK, seeing the heartland of America!

We're humbled by those of you who fought for country, fought or helped/are helping a loved one battle difficult illness, parented alone, suffered through and after divorce, etc.

My prayers for you all. May God bless and comfort you.

physical: running a marathon. i've got dodgy knees and it hurt like hell after the first ten miles. i managed to do it in less than 4 hours and swore i'd never, ever do another one. so far i have kept that promise

mental: visiting my dad in hospital when he was dying and trying to act like everything was okay. that sucked a bit.

In the big picture: Raising my daughters. A work still in process. So far, I think I (they) have done just fine.

In the personal arena: My 4th Degree Black Belt. A lot of training, a lot of traveling, a bit of heartbreak, and finally success!
Now, on to 5th Degree. I never learn. Congratulations, Bensonhurst. I hope to get in one more season of tournament competition in and then become a professional spectator. (No cage fighting for me, though. I'm too old and sore to begin with )
