Well I've been loving my new scooter, but really wanted a bit more storage. Specifically I was thinking I'd like a tunnel bag to take up the space my feet don't need, to put my lunch and misc things for my office day in there. Something I can just unhook, grab and go kind of thing and using that space seemed the most efficient to me. The only commercial bag I could find was in excess of $100 and for what I needed it for that seemed like way too much.

My first idea was to get some heavy black material and make a bag. Then after browsing what was available, it seemed cheapest to just by a ready made one and modify it.

This is what I ended up doing. I bought a $20 bag from walmart, cut and sewed it to size. It fits like a glove and now I just need to devise a clever hook or buckle system to secure it and I'll have my homemade tunnel bag on the cheap.

Cheers!

Here you can see what parts of the bag I would need to cut off to make it fit.

Finished product fits like a glove. I just need a good way to make it easy to attach and remove.

well, aren't you resourceful! That looks fantastic. Are you in the sewing/upholstery business? You must have an industrial machine.

Nope, I'm just a regular guy who's cheapness outweighs his inability to sew. I just found a big needle and sewed it up with heavy black fishing line. It's not pretty, but it worked fine, and its strong and weatherproof.

That ended up looking suspiciously like a bowling ball bag. Wonder if that would fit? (Sorry, unabashed Big Lebowski fan.)

How I attached it.
Well I wanted a quick and easy way to secure the bag to my scooter without actually having to modify any part of my scooter.

Below is what I came up with, worked out great!

Next I'm going to attempt to re-upholster my seat... I'll be sure to show some pix.

Cheers
Made some D rings from pieces of metal coat hanger, and stitched on some strap material that came from the shoulder strap of the bag.

This is a strap I made from the shoulder strap that came with the bag. It got clasps at each end and I folded over the middle and sewed it together.

This is how I 'install' the strap. Simply open the glovebox, lay the strap on then close.

I now have 2 anchor points that I can add or remove with ease.

Here you can see how the anchor points attach to my homemade D rings. The bag hook under the seat holds the handles of the bag and the whole thing is quite secure. Mission accomplished for $20.
