I put down a cool thousand on a new black MP3 500 in early June....They said it would be sometime in August but then also said that if I didn't get one that I would get my deposit back...I watched her as she put my order in through the computer and I am just amazed that there isn't some way that Bogart Motorsports in B'ham, AL can find out if I actually have one or not by now...I emailed them but got no response and myabe it was because it was around the 4th of July holiday period but c'mon....Anywho, is it possible that they can run out prior to me getting one and is there any way the dealer can confirm or deny if my order has been accepted or filled? It just seems a bit ridiculous to me...

thanks, Mike

I'm not a dealer or an expert...just a guy who bought an MP3. My understanding from talking to a few dealers is that when the ship arrives at the east coast the dealer is then notified of what came in and given VIN numbers. I kept calling each week to find out if they had a VIN number for me. Without a VIN number you are putting down a deposit on...the next one they get, and if they are honest then it should work out. Keep calling and tell the salesman that you want the VIN number of your bike as soon as they have it. One of the dealers I talked with said sometime he is just surprised with a truck that delivers some MP3's. He said that he never knows for sure when the truck will come in. If you find another dealer that has what you want, go get it and get your deposit back from the other dealer...that's what I did. Now if you already have a VIN number then I would think you are not getting your deposit back and you will have to wait for that particular bike to come in.

I've had a deposit down since early May and I'm not expected to get mine until mid August. Depends on where you're at and how many people have deposits a head of you.

My dealer stated that the deposit was non-refundable unless they could not deliver on the bike.....How long they have is anyone's guess though...Thanks for the info...Mike

just curious, why not go find one. I would gladly go out of state to buy what I want, these things are hard to find but they are out there and available. I found two or three within 1-2 hundred miles without trying real hard

+1 I drove up to Seattle, about 180 miles or so, to pick mine up. I looked up the number to all the dealers within 200 miles and probably found 5.

I suspect that's wishful thinking on behalf of your dealer. Unless he has paid for the bike or he has confirmation of a vin number, I belive you CAN get a refund.

I guess I thought I was bound by the so called non-refundable deposit...I am going to check to see if they have a vin yet...If not, I will begin my search again...
Thanks, Mike

Like you, I ordered from the local dealer. 80% down. After 2 months with no date in sight, I found one 350 miles away and cancelled. Local dealer tried to say there would be a restocking charge (as if they ever had it in stock). But Piaggio USA told them to let me go. So I caught a ride and rode her home. And have never been happier with a bike.

That was my 500 you saw at Bogart's
Ordered on March 23rd. After the 1st month, I called every week .... yeph I was impatient. Finally, they called me the last week of May (dang it I was out of town). Guess that's when you got to see her, and place an order.

While I was out of town, I did ask for the VIN so I could start to get the insurance ready. I highly recommend American Modern Select for insurance. I checked all over and their rates can't be beat.

Finally, I picked the beast up on June 3rd. Unfortunately, I had an electrical issue on my way home. Took them better than two weeks to get to the bike, as they were so backed up with police bikes ... now, that was balony Crying or Very sad emoticon . Got my bike back the night before I left on vacation. Couldn't wait to get home to break her in. I hope you can find service in T-town.

Now the good news, you will love it. I only have 220 miles so far, but commuted in to downtown Birmingham two times already. The MP3 is sooo much fun to ride on the mountain roads around here. I can't wait to ride over to Mt. Cheaha and up to Little River Canyon.

Hope you get your mean machine soon! Roll Tide!

Thanks AL...Yeah, I just talked with Eileen at Bogart and she said that they were expecting a red 500 this week for the guy that put his deposit down before mine...I'm next but she did not seem to have any answers as far as when next would be...She did say she would email me as soon as it showed up on their inventory via her computer...She is telling me late August now...who knows...Did they figure out ur electrical problems? I hope they have that squared away when they start getting mine ready to go....Tuscaloosa has a new vespa/piaggio dealer but he did not sound very optimistic that he could even get a 500 for me which led me to b'ham..Hopefully he can handle the maitenence on the bike for me...Hopefully...Roll Tide!

Electrical Problem was fixed
.... guess I was the ginea pig. Just make sure to ask Kenny (service manager) for assurance that the Pre Delivery list is fully checked off.

I am a dealer.
I cannot sell a bike without a vin #. if i take a deposit on a bike it is fully refundable. the only way a deposit would be non refundable is if it was a custom( unusual) order that the dealer would have a problem selling if the buyer backed out. i.e. unusual color. I dont know of any bikes that could be factory ordered in unusual configurations. demand your deposits back!
