Rode my son's new GTS 250 from Santa Cruz to Berkeley....all freeway.

Was just terribly impressed with the solidness of the chasis at speed. Only real issue was the hunting of the front end on some rain groove section near Oakland (probably a change of tires will remedy).

The scoot had a new custom Corbin seat on it and it is ergonomically perfect and very comfortable.

Cruising at 65-70 mph was easy for the this motor....

I'm new to scooters but have owned an MP3 500 for a while. I understand why Vespa's popularity extends beyond its style.

very impressive for a scooter..........

That's definitely a function of the stock Savas.

Hi 88, great to see you posting in this forum. Glad you enjoyed riding the GTS, great scooter isn't it? I still haven't had the opportunity to ride a MP3 of any size yet. Crying or Very sad emoticon Maybe this weekend though at the rally I might be able to remedy that.

+1

Change of tires made all the difference for me, especially across the Bay and Richmond-SR bridges.

No reason you can't, but you'll get float from the rain grooves via the rear tire as well.

I like the Michelin Pilot Sport and the Michelin Pilot City.

I'm currently running a Michelin Pilot City 140/70/12 on the rear, and really really like how planted it feels in the twisties.

I've only ridden across the bay bridge and it wasn't fun. I'm having Barry at SFSC install Heidenaus tomorrow.

what do you run on the front tire? 130/70/12? would running a 120/70/12 on the front be too disproportionate with having a 140/70/12 on the rear?

Thinking of getting the michelin pilot city for the rear as the sava is about bald. but the front sava...it is fine and I think i will be leaving that one on there.

Thanks.

Only thing is, I ran the Savas until the front was finally showing wear, then I could justify switching brands to the Pilots (so that would have been three rears to one front). I just didn't see the point in wasting good rubber. Maybe that's too extreme to actin' green, maybe I was trying to be a little frugal, but that's just me. In the meantime, I just dealt with the raingrooving; once I got used to the idea that I wasn't going down, it was more of just a weird phenomenon than scary.

Anyway! When you make the switch, I think you will be pleased.

If I remember correctly Jess runs the 120 for the front wheel and I do as well. I like the faster turn in over the 130 front and your right the 140 in the rear is PLANTED.

Yep. 120 in the front. I might run a 130 front for Cannonball, but that's largely due to to extenuating circumstances. In all other situations, I would run a 120.
