I'm so sorry to hear about the accident! Do take it easy for a few days...we all want everything to be fine after an accident but often the aches and pains come the next day.

Hope the insurance settlment is fair. Don't forget to include any accessories that were wrecked/lost in the claim.

Man, I am so sorry to hear about that. The first one is always a nightmare and getting on your scooter is a hard thing to do. Having been there once before, I can promise you it will all work out in the wash. When (and not 'if') the insurance company screws you (because they will - been in this business for a long, long time), please PM me. Although I live a few time zones away, I know the greatest lawyers in WDC/B'more and he's handled over 12,000 auto/scooter/m'cycle cases. He'll get you back up and running.

I sometimes feel when I'm on my scooter that it's like the dude from that movie "Grizzly Man." You know he's gonna get it, the only question is - when....

What would be potentially helpful should you feel up to it Bobo, and there might be some expertise involved, is suggesting a procedural guide of what should or should not be done in an accident - to protect the scooterists rights- like 'document these 37 things,' 'don't say ________,' 'don't sign_____', bike valuation suggestions, etc.?

The guy just asked me for my insurance info. Then he told the cop it was my fault. The cop said to him "no, you ran a stop sign, and I'm writing you a ticket."

The guy's girlfriend was with him. I think she learned something about him. He was more concerned about his dented car hood than the guy he hit.

Getting up and walking away, I was just feeling lucky.

I don't know what legal advice to give to people who crash, other than be compassionate but don't make a statement like "I'm sorry." Save the statements for the insurance company after things settle down and you talk to a lawyer. Fortunately this time the evidence is clear: he had a stop sign, I didn't, and there are skid marks in the middle of the intersection.

Oh poor sweet Bobo! And your beloved VNB, too. I'm glad you came out on top here and take good care of yourself.

Get healed up quick. Maryland drivers are the worst (I live in Baltimore). If you inconvenience them, they are after your head.

Pat yourself on the back for being smart enough to wear protective gear. I saw a guy on a big bore motorcycle the other day in shorts, a tee shirt and tennis shoes and just shuddered.

You're right, it doesn't do any good to be upset. The winds of time and the cogs of Justice will even things out in their own way. A VNB can be replaced, even these days. But nerve damage may be forever. Luckily it seems you are scratch free.

When you go down, you gotta get up and jump right back on two wheels if you can. Thinking about it just spooks people.

I ride the freeway too. Many people say the limited access is safer than uncontrolled interesctions. No stop signs to run.

Sorry to hear about what happened Bobo, but I'm glad your doing ok considering the seriousness of the crash. What a shame about the loss of your VNB, may she RIP and her parts go to other bikes that need them. Take care, look forward to seeing you again soon!
