SFSC Classic Rally
OK, this is my first camping rally. I'm concerned about what gear to bring. Does everyone carry their camping gear, or are there support trucks to carry some of it? I know that dinner will be provided. Do we all need to pack cooking gear and food, as well as sleeping bags and tents, or will there be community breakfasts and lunches provided? I'd like to hear from those who attended last year.

Anyone know which campsite? |

So if you ride something modern will you be shunned like someone with crabs? I noticed on the site that there are no restrictions, but some people harbor hard feelings about things built after 1980.
I'd definitely be up for the ride, maybe not so much the camping. |

hey Michael, i wouldn't worry about the haters---it's a really large campsite and the majority of people i think are pretty ok---had a blast last year. i'm not much of a camper, so i'm staying next door http://www.creeksideinn.com/

Where is the campsite anyhow? Since I would be coming from Sac, I'm not sure I want to start out in San Francisco. (If I make it to this rally)

The campsite is called Parker's Resort. Last year I was pretty naive and thought because it was called the Kings Classic you had to ride a classic scooter so I brought my p200 and strapped on all my camping gear. but it was about 50/50 modern to vintage. when I saw this was the last year for modern I thought I would ride up from LA on my LX wit some of my club mates.
Barry from SF Scooter Center made us feel totally welcome, fed us, provided us great free micro beer, good music and a great ride and spot. Here is a link to my pics from last year... http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=31420513&albumId=965866 ![]()

I have not been to this event before. I was thinking about having my wife and daughter(10) come up for this as well. But I am not sure what type of enviroment it will be for my daughter. Where there any kids last year?

Larry,
There where several kids there last year. several families camped out for the weekend. My friend brought his 8 year old daughter and she had a blast. There is drinking and having a good time but ( IMO) all within reason. |

What type of amenities will they have at the campground? Water, bathrooms? Is anybody else gonna rough it? Such that , do I need to bring my camping stove and gear?

There are toilets and showers. You don't need to bring any cooking stuff unless you really want to cook. The Black Sheep put on a first class event.
All you really need is a tent and a sleeping bag. |

What's the route? Hwy 1 all the way up? The Sonoma County Scooterists want to hook up with you for part of the ride up.

I need my stove so I can make some coffee in the morning. Gonna bring some stuff for breakfast. Seems my tent and sleeping bag take up most of the space in my back pack. Just trying to figure out how to balance it on the back of my scoot with the ability to access my fuel readily.

Two more days. Has everybody packed their camping gear? I am excited. This is my first camping rally, and the first time my wife will be riding to a rally on a scooter.
P. S. Am I right in assuming that it will be cold on the coast for the ride up, but warmer inland, once we get to the campground? Just trying to bring the right clothes. |

I switched over to a smaller tent which also fits better in my back pack. Unless I can get someone to carry up my pack in a support vehicle I am trying out how to carry it on my scooter with easy access to the gas tank. I am so tempted, and probably will buy more accessories to carry camping gear to go "scooter camping!" I was thinking front rack carrier for the tent, saddlebags for fluids and munchies and back pack for other stuff( got that already!)Anyone have suggestions or info on other campsites? The county and state parks are always reserved and can't seem to get in.

So are you going through Bodega Bay on 1, cutting in along Hwy 116? Or cutting in before then? I think we're going to ride down 1 until we meet you... just need to know how far up to go.

I'm coming up Sat morning.
I'll be leaving the city too early to go to the meet up and take on gear tho (plus I won't be going back thru the city, but over the San Rafael bridge back to Oaktown) I'm all set to host a cocktail hour, perhaps early afternoon on Saturday? Trying to go with the luau/Hawaiian theme and have vanilla vodka, coconut rum, fruit juices, some ginger ale and sparkling water for some fizz, and will have some snacks. So come find my art truck and have some drinks!! |
