tested the GTS 300 from 0-50km/h. Result = 3,3sec.
An earlier test for GTS 250 from 0-50km/h gave, err-rr. another 3,3sec.
And then, the
Motorrad magazine tested the GTS 300, and...0-50 km/h in 3,4sec.
Some other figures for the 300 Super
Top speed = 121 km/h
Acceleration from 50 - 100 km/h = 10,5 s
Hp measured from the rear wheel = 17,3 hp
Fuel consumption (avg.) = 3,6 l/100km = about 65 US mpg
Hmm.. it must be wrong, I'm sure, because I did 119km/h on my GTS 125cc (all standard) with a full accessories kit and a friend on the back. So I believe GTS 300 will do at least 145km/h (and I read so in reviews as well - 90mp/h)
I hoped for the wheelie so much... it's unfortunate..
IMO, they seem to be plausible figures. I'm only guesstimating, but honourable magazines, most certainly in the land of
ordnung, base their claims with repeatable, measurable and calibrated testing devices.
A reasonable big
Konrad, Helmut or what ever, riding with a upright posture, no crouching, and w/out the flyscreen. From point A to B, and back from B to A, discarding the wind element. Empty road.
Hey, I have difficulties to get the needle clearly over 130 km/h on the GTS 250 speedo (130/70-12 fr tire, supposed to be about 2-3% out of
de facto velocity, some say) when the elements (downhill, wind behind, drafting, etc.) are not there. Planting the face over the speedo helps measurably, though.
All the tests I've read conclude more or less the (measured) top speed around 120 km/h for the GTS 250.
Personally, I found the measured hp from the rear wheel quite impressive. One of my friends should have soon his 300 Super, installed with the Pilot Sports in 140/70-12 on the rear. I'll wait for his experiences, then I'll decide should I join the 300 Super band wagon.
If it's with the bigger wheels any (considerable amount) better, I'll step in. I'm pissed on the local
autobahns with the 120 km/h limit. Man, you've gotta be able to go just a bit faster than that, otherwise you've got all those cagers on your tail light.
