I just got my brand new scooter last Tuesday night and noticed it was leaking something, the dealer closed so I drove home and to work the next morning, made a call and they said to bring it in. I brought it straight there, didn't have it for 24 hours of 50 miles yet and haven't seen it since.

I've been told it was a seal on the crankshaft by a mechanic, while the salesguy insists it is a seal on some oil thing.

Regardless of what it is, would you expect to be getting a replacement scooter, as opposed to just a repair?

Id expect them to just repair it, but Id speak with a manager and find out what was the real part needing repair.

Odd that happening so soon.

Welcome and sorry that this had to happen to you. I'd go for the new one but now days with everyone buying them some places have a long wait . See what they can do for you and try to get a new one if you can. Keep us posted as to what they say. They don't sound like they really want to help you and more importantly that you don't trust them FYI do not use the kick starter. Most people do more damage by using it than not. Just think of it as an ornament. I wonder if they have used it since it can cause damage in the area that they think the problem is in. My LT 150 doesn't even have the kick start and it's the same engine. Good luck

hey thanks!

so far i've been told to call the corporate headquarters by the dealer,
then to call the dealer by the corp. headquarters.
and then the dealer wanted me to call the headquarters again.

and this whole time my new friend is sitting in their garage waiting to be repaired.

Sorry for the BS, they should just take it back and repair it and make it right by you. Ask them for a free service, for the inconvience.

Your new Vespa has a warranty. You have a mechanical failure of a small part, not a catastrophic failure. It could have been damaged during assembly or maybe it was a defective seal.

In any case, you have a warranty that will cover this. Trying to shake the dealer or corporate down for a new scooter is going to waste your time and leave you standing while you could be riding.

Request that the dealer repair it in a timely fashion and begin enjoying your new scooter.

if it actually is just the seal, i'm fine with taking it with a replacement, but it was leaking a LOT and i've gotten multiple answers from people saying what it was.
ugh, thanks for your opinions
