I was riding a Honda Aero 50 followed shortly thereafter by a Honda Gyro 50.

Eh? WHAT? Could ya speak into my good ear?

...those were the days.

I really miss the car, the madrid skateboard not so much.

A fresh pair of tennies and lots of sidewalk.

But didn't the Grifter have a handle gearchange? Almost like a Vespa or Lambretta!

Let's see; I was 37 years old. I had a few bikes back then. Under my house in several boxes was a '62 Vespa 150 Super, but in my garage, I had:

1. '71 Moto Guzzi 750 Ambassador with Sidecar,
2. '72 Norton Commando 750,
3. '76 Harley FXE (which I traded for a '78 Honda Goldwing, wth a Vetter Fairing, Bates Bags and a cool RadioShack AM/FM/CB Stereo Radio).

Parents would never let me get a scooter or motorcycle.
In fact, my mother still doesn't know

Also, the Jitney, from my little room in AC to Lou's in Ventnor, where I was a busboy.

A 1982 Honda Nighthawk 450. I got the bike one month after turning 16. I'm surprised I survived, the last thing a 16 year boy needs is a bike that can go 120 mph. Though on days like today, 109 degrees outside, I do miss not having to wear a helmet.

A red honda helix 250 with a kenwood am/fm stereo system which might of even had a cassette deck in it I loved that fugly looking helix

Ditto. In '81 I had a Guzzi v50. It's one of the bikes I now wish I had kept. I sold it to get a faster (but uninteresting) Suzuki 750.

the Vespa Super wasn't made until 1966. A '62 Vespa 150 would have been a VBB.

I was riding a red Honda C70. Only ever put gas in the thing and ran the crap out of it. Kept running strong until a "friend" crashed it into a parked car. Super great bike.

ugg, don't remind me First time I had it worked on the guy pointed out that it's supposed to have two exhaust gaskets to deal with the way the pipe and cylinder never lined up right. But it was reliable and equaled freedom so I'll always overlook its shortcomings.

1973 BMW R60/5 with a toaster tank from an R75 and a barn-door fairing. I lost my pix over the years, sorry to say.

25 years ago, we owned:
1. BMW R100RT (my ride)
2. BMW R90S w/EML sidecar conversion (wife's rig)

That would have been my 1978 Yamaha 650E.

My first bike was a Honda 305 Dream, http://www.rocketworld.org/images/honda305_57_72.jpg back in 1965, followed by a Vespa VBC 150 in 1967. Then there was a very unfortunate Chevy II that led up to a Datsun 510, a Saab 99, a Datsun pickup and a return to two wheels with a Honda 360T. I put 19,000 miles on that little Honda before I moved up to the Yamaha.

I wish I still had that old Dream -- you gotta love a motorcycle with white walls. Actually, I miss all the two-wheelers. Can't say the same for those cars.

Do you mean riding, or driving?

For riding, it was a bicycle.

For driving, it was a BMW 318 (sorry about BMW, that was a company car).

Yeah, a lad I was at school with had a fizzy and his bike was faster than mine! Was a bit of a nail though. My older sister had a Suzuki AP50 with pedals an' all. That was unrestricted. That was fast for a 50. I tried to get my RD to go faster by putting a 'spanny on it, a micron, but it didn't make much difference. My RD was of the age when the UK government started to crack down on two wheelers and restrict the output of what were called mopeds that you could ride from 16. Maximum design speed 32 mph but my RD went faster, about 45 (on the clock!).

My dad wouldn't let me have a scooter.

I had just had a ride on the back of this beast owned by my best mate Gary 'Gorilla' Strachan (R.I.P.). We were out riding one weekend when Gary pulled over and put me on the front. Rode to my Dad's who was a big fan of big bikes. When we pulled up and removed our FF helmets my Dad's jaw nearly hit the ground.
I was ni ni ni ni nineteen.

Suzuki GS550 got me around SoCal while I was in the Navy. My ship, the USS Halsey, CG23, was in drydock in Long Beach next to the USS New Jersey which was just then coming out of mothballs. My little Suzi 550 got me to Hollywood, east to the mountains, the beach towns, etc. I loved that bike but sold it to a buddy.

Then I bought a basket case sportster and put it together (AMF POS). It never ran right in spite of many trips to harley mechanics. Sold it for 500 dollars.
