Everybody has said when I got my GTS that they were like riding an armchair. Thank god I'm not alone in thinking it is umcomfortable on a long run. However I have remedied this by sitting a bit further forward on the seat instead of having my arse jammed up against the slight back rest on the seat. Not perfect but a lot more comfortable

I find my GTS seat awful on longer rides. Tomorrow the Corbin I bought here in the classifieds is scheduled to be delivered. I've had Corbins on motorcycles and have been very satisfied. They seem well liked by GTS owners who have them so I am very anxious to try it out.

The GTS seat is fine for shorter rides but I too have a real problem with it on longer rides. When we had the seat done at pirate upholstery we had gel inserts added for MUCH more comfort. It was expensive but worth it for us.

I had a similar issue and found two remedies:
1. Lift your butt ever so slightly for a few seconds while you ride. You'll feel like you got a new butt. 2. I use a lamb fur pad strapped onto the seat. It allows for air circulation, is just the right amount slippery to move about on the seat for changing pressure points, without getting the pants puckering up on the non-glide seat material (but it is not too slippery to lose your position). The best remedy is getting off once in a while. There's my pad:

In other words, can I order a whole customized GTS seat from him? The reason I ask is that if I send him my seat, then I am sans-scoot for the time it takes to finish the job. Failing that, I suppose an option would be to buy a spare and send him that one. OR...heheh: I buy a second ride so that I can ride while I wait for the newly upholstered seat. 8) UPDATE: [slaps forehead] I found it, I found it! I never could find this link before, but I found it this time after 2 clicks??? Oy, my brain!! http://www.pirateupholstery.com/Seat%20Exchange.htm ⚠️ Last edited by Bonkers on UTC; edited 1 time

I just emailed the Pirate, arrrrr..LOL
The cafe racer style is the one I like, but I asked him if that could be changed to a more straight, pleated, bench, sort of like what the old Honda CB750's had. That, with the gel insert, I think would be the ticket. |

What is it about the GTS seat that is uncomfortable? Is it the shape or the padding? I am about to get one, so I am curious.

I'm sorry for resending the same pic again and again, but here's what Pirate did for me (in case you haven't seen it). Granted this is a GTV seat, they were able to modify it to correct the problem I had with sliding forward. Some, not all, have had the same problem. Pirate's extra padding corrected it for me and they made the applique for me as well.
I'm a big fan of their work. I don't know how Corbin seats compare. I'm sure they're equally as good. It's a matter of choice..

REVIEW: Airhawk Motorcycle Seat Cushion (somewhere in the review section of this forum) I remember reading about it, haven't needed it. Just remember seeing it.
Has anyone used it? |

Try the AirHawk seat cushion. It make a HUGE difference in comfort, it's less expensive than a custom seat and you can move it from scooter to scooter. The Medium cruiser is the right size.
RL Motorcycles has the BEST PRICE I've seen. Here is a Link: http://www.rlmotorcycles.com/cgi-bin/eShop/index.cgi?exact_match=yes&product=AirHawk&subbcat=AirHawk_AirHawk_Motorcycle_Seat_Cushion&cart_id=1215693780.20491 Janine |
