Anybody check the condition of their J.Costa weights in their 500 after 2-3K miles?

I'm coming up to 3K miles and was planning on changing them....

That is a good idea 88.. I have the J Costa on my 250 and I noticed at the 1500 mile mark, the clanking returned.. I will probably change the rollers out also at the next oil change...

I sold my 250 to a fellow who put 4K on the bike with the original j.costa weights. Unfortunately, the weights were so bad at 4k that the bike would stall and could not be ridden. I'm not sure if the weight of the MP3 (over a GTS 250) places more strain on the variator weights.

When I bought my 500 and installed the new variator it was with an understanding that every 3K miles I would not only change fluids but the weights as part of my standard maintenance routine.

I've just turned 3,600 miles on mine, and was thinking of a check.

I've a feeling these may not be the cheap option - even if they feel the best. :0

The J Costa has just survived a track-day - boy was I pleased with it!

I certainly understand your sentiments about the J Costa, Jumc. Even with all that has been written about this wonderful product, I was not prepared for the difference it made on my MP3.. Wow! WOw! WOW!

Again 88, appreciate the counsel. I will order my replacement weights tomorrow, just in case I need them earlier...
