Hello all...
I'm Jon and I just picked up an '03 Piaggio LT 150. I'm new to the scooter world, but so far I'm loving it. I think I've found a new life-long love (besides my wife of course).
Any advice/tips/wisdom for the new kid?

Any advice/tips/wisdom for the new kid? no advice to give but get out and get out now as you will forever be deeply addicted to MV and your life long fix of everything about scooters and people who are crazy about them. Pay very close attention to the road surface. watch out for leaves, sand, water, and especially gravel!
I dropped my GTS about a year ago when I was turning from a paved road into a paved parking lot that had a small gravel connecting entrance. I don't even remember seeing the gravel before I turned. Now I'm constantly scanning the road for anything that could be a problem. Have fun and be safe! |

Don't Skimp on gear
Yes...know your limits...but always have a plan B...that is your gear.
Wear an armor jacket (like a Corazzo), riding gloves, and boots. Resist the temptation to ever put your foot down unless you are almost standing still. Counter steer rather than steering in the direction you want to go (it's not a bicycle!), and follow that up with body position. Be totally paranoid about everyone else on the road. Be safe. Have fun. You're now doomed. You will be a scooterist. You can't go back. |

You know that basketball player Steve Nash? Watch the way he always looks beyond, in back, beside, above, and forward all of the time. Pretend you are the best point guard in the NBA - constantly looking for others, and your rides and mentality will continue to grow stong and confident.
