Glad you are OK Gitta, but I feel like I have lost a friend after reading all Lenore's posts. Good luck in finding another scoot-keep us posted. Art

Coming to this news late, and am sorry to hear that your scooter is damaged. Glad to learn that you escaped too serious an injury.
My suggestion is to salvage a part of Lenore that you can add to your new scooter! |

As always, Gitta is a trooper. They are on their way home from the rally with Lenore in the back of the truck, resting peacefully. The San Diego Chapter banded together and rearranged some riding assignments and made sure all parties and bikes were accounted for. Last message I got was they were sitting by the pool at the undisclosed hotel, drinking some cold ones.
They'll be back in San Diego later today. Hugs & Kisses my Bastard Sister. Karen & I love you and will be thinking about you today. Well, we always think about you. You know? |

Aww.. it makes a girl all tingly that you care so much!!! OR the tingle is radiating from my butt after riding 1258 miles in the last 5 days...
I am pretty fine. Bruised.. but not broken. As it turns out, I crash awesomely. I'll post some photos later and will save explaining the full circumstances to sum up like this: buglake + gravel + Rattlesnake Creek + gravity= hello gully. When I crashed: 527 miles from San Diego to Slates Gulch on Hwy 120 out of Yosemite (although the turn I wrecked on is called Rattlesnake Creek). That's near Big Oak Flat, in case you know the area (which you WON'T. I crashed in the middle of nowhere. NOWHERE!); at 8:30pm . Thank gawd I was riding with reverend. 1st Responder Reverend (and qualified to administer last rites) ~ Thank you, thank you, thank you ~ I hope you can sleep tonight without seeing it in your head again! You only ran me over a little bit. I saw you coming, though! -wink- Too soon? One call to Lucky and he was on his way to us with a trailer. It took him three hours from Kyburz to Big Oak Flat to load us up, and a huge detour on the trip back made it 6 more to get back. We pulled in at near 8am... and have a rally to get on the day. I got up later that morning and hoped onto Lucky's GTS 5 hours after that and enjoyed a rally weekend! Then rode Rex's GTV for 580 miles to get home. Thanks guys for the Bastard loaner scoots!! All the Bastards and SOB's were so great to me over the weekend.. but it'll take more than that to wipe me out!! Lenore on the otherhand.... Is maybe not going to fare as well. The front fork is pushed so completely hard into the leg shield, that her front tire does not roll at all. Frame damage.. it's a bit ugly....but she's my girl, so I'll have to look at them too. Anyway, for the true gore fans - I'll post her crash pictures later. You sickos. All bruises are purpling nicely - thank you for so many who have sent me pictures! haha!!!

Oh, and for the record, too:
I was wearing full gear. My Shoei modular helmet, my heavy leather Powertrip Jacket, full hard soled boots that cover my ankles. I am a grateful girl, for this could have been much worse!! |

I was waiting to hear how it went down. So sad you lost Lenore, it would have been much worse if we had lost you. Heal quickly.

Oh Gitta! I am so sorry to hear about this. I am so glad you are "ok" and glad to hear you were wearing full gear. Sobers us up to hear a friend crash. I hope you heal quickly that's a nasty looking bruise.
Can't wait to see what scoot you get next. I know she'll be purty too. |

Ouch! What a beaut of a bruise. That sucks about Lenore, but of course, the fact that you're gonna be okay is what counts. Take care and milk all the sympathy you can. I prescribe lots of cocktails.

Lenore has been declared dead. I received the coroners report and the damage is extreme. Frame, rim, front fork, paint, labor... it adds up.
Rest in peace, sweet Lenore. You were so very well loved and admired. I'm sorry I did this to you. -sob- You gave me the best 12,683 miles I've ever had. I had been looking forward to joining the 20,000 mile club this year with you. -sniff, sniff- -sigh- |

I was out of town at Motogiro America when you and Lenore went down and didn't hear about the incident until now, when this thread resurrected. I'm so sorry to hear about Lenore!
All my best for your continued recovery! I've always loved your posts and am in the middle of following your GT200-Stebel installation tutorial. I look forward to seeing new mods and new scooter posts! All the best! |
