I'm curious as to what opinions there are about the pros and cons of the GT200 / GTS 250. I am a longtime owner of a 1959 Lambretta Li 125 and am going to buy either the GT 200 or GTS 250... personally i like the looks of the GT 200 best, but thats no reason to choose it! help me out here!

thanks much!

You're welcome.

The GTS250 does have a digital dash vs. the GT200's standard gauges, which no one seemed to mention on that thread. It's just a matter of personal preference as to which you like better. Most people consider the the gauges to be more "classic", but most non-owners (onlookers, friends, whatever) won't know the difference either way.

If you care, the GT200 can take a Euro-style tailight that the GTS250 cannot:

Ya, i noticed the more classic gauge set up on the GT.. all and all the GT has a more subtle look to it and i really like that. They guy at the dealer said the 200 & 250 perform very simular, in fact that they are so close that it would be stupid for me to spend the extra cash... well, not sure on that just yet but i willl ride both tommorow and might just ride one home.

thanks for your time!

I have both. I like both, but so far, I feel most comfortable on the GT200. I love my new yellow GTS though. The GT is my cruiser. They are both very similar, but if you are buying new, I would go with the GTS as it is injected.

Curious as to what makes the GT more comfortable for you?

Bottom line... are they really much different in terms of overall power and handling??

You see i can get a new 2007 GT 200 for 5800.00 out the door... the GTS is going to be about 1600.00 more... so i like the GT price best and also the look.

thanks!

thanks![/quote] I have the most fun with my GT ~ I bought it pre-owned for 4500 with under 1000 miles. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I just bought the GTS new. I like the classic looks of the GT, mine has that european light on the back, which I am not crazy about, but it looks great overall. I also got the leather seat and matching top case, it's really a fun cruiser. It has plenty of power, gets great mileage and it's really hard to leave it for any amount of time because you just cant wait to get back on it. I can't tell you that it is better than the GTS, but I certainly like the ride on my GT, I am always really comfortable on it. The GTS hasn't grown on me yet, perhaps when the speedo bounce gets fixed, I will really like it too.

Don't feel that way. Coming from a vintage Lammy, you're probably more in synch with the "less is more" philosophy of the carbed GT 200L than the "latest and greatest" of the fuel injected GTS.

After putting 25K miles on my previous GT 125 (yes, we have those over here) which I was really happy with, I just upgraded to the 200 and have found it to have the ideal amount of power for the GT chassis. Especially for riding two up.

I think Piaggio got it right the first time with the GT 200, whereas the GTS 250 and 300 are wannabe megascooters it's had to put out to keep up with the growing market for big, powerful scooters. OTOH the the Granturismo is what a modern Vespa is supposed to be. Simple and functional.

Go with the 200, you won't be disappointed!

This guy is crazy! Don't listen!

Just kidding!

Either one is a great ride. I do like my gts a little more because of the fuel injection. Starts any time, any temp.

Not sure where you are, but those prices are seriously high especially on a 2007. I bought a 2007 GT 200 at the very end of May in Southern California for $5118 out the door. The GTS would have been $900ish more. I have seen posts from other members in this same period of time who have all paid within $100-200 of my price.

Bottom line, you should be able to do better.

I chose the GT because 1-did not want digital gages, 2- I much prefer the carb over FI and 3- I had to have Daring Plum-it's the fastest color. I have put 4200 miles on it in just over 5 months with no probs---it"s a fantastic scooter. Art

Ok, so I got a chance to ride both the GT 200 and GTS 250.

First off, I could tell there are actually some differences. One difference was that the GTS was slightly able to reach speed faster. From a dead stop to a maker point on the street... the GTS reached 50mph and the GT in same test reached 45mph. The difference was nominal, however due to the fact I would like to see the both of them have more power, I would say I preferred the GTS in the speed category.

Handling was the second noticeable difference. The GTS has the appearance of having tighter geometry on the front fork; however I do not know for a fact if the geometry is actually different?? Regardless, the GTS handles just like it would if it did have a pulled in front fork: quick to the draw, and snappy. ( I think that a newbie might actually interpret the feeling of the GTS's quick responsiveness in terms of handling, as a feeling the GTS is faster than the GT; of coarse mutually exclusively from the fact the GTS IS slightly faster indeed). As for the GT... the GT has a really pleasant "cruising" feel to the steering compared to the GTS. The GT will most probably feel more stable (not that either feel unstable) to a newbie or anyone for that matter. (I know I read a post of a rider who states "I just don't feel as comfortable on my GTS"... not the seat part either) I would say, coming from the vintage world of these scoots the GT definitely has more of a purest's vibe in both aesthetics and in ride feel. As for my preference... I like both of them the same, and I really liked that the GTS was the one with more aggressive handling and that the GT was the one that was a bit more laid back. Both bikes suited themselves very nicely.

All and All both of these bike were great and I don't really think any of you should be in the "woulda coulda shoulda"(regrets) category on what bike you actually own out of either of the bikes tested. As I stated prior "I would like to see both faster" well. from the feel of these bikes they would be safe going faster so why not right?? I think they would be perfect if they could reach 90mph; not necessarily to use it, but what it would imply about getting up to speed on the highway.

thanks for all your RE:'s
