I just tried starting my 2001 et2 for the first time in two weeks and it wouldn't start because the battery discharged. I know the battery isn't completely dead because it's a new battery. Do I have to kick start or run start it now. I have a trickle charger. Can I plug in the trickle charger to charge the battery back up. Any other suggestions. Thanks
All lead acid batteries have an electrolyte (battery acid) which is held in suspension with the charge. If the charge is low the the suspension becomes week and the electrolyte falls to the bottom. Once the electrolyte hits the bottom of the battery it stays there. No matter how new or old the battery is. Equalizing a battery excites the battery with extra voltage and causes the battery to boil and the bubbles carry the electrolyte back to the top.(but not if it has already hit the bottom) Battery maintainers keep the electrolyte excited and in suspension. The key to a happy and long lived battery is to keep the electrolyte in suspension. ( a low battery or a dead battery is a sad battery.) Some new battery chargers have an equalize function, or you can take in to a shop and have them do it.(sometimes they call it conditioning.) I hope this helps.
