Hi Everyone,

I've talked to 2 Vespa shops and they are not sure what's wrong. I had my rear tire replaced 3 months ago. After riding on it for a couple months I realized that the rear wheel was loosening and could be move right to left, left to right almost up to 2 inches. I also noticed the wheel was rubbing on the drive housing. Took it in and the shop said I was missing a spacer (probably lost during tire change) between the rear wheel and the housing (not the exhaust side). No one had the part so I had a similar spacer put it that was similar size (I've since ordered the part from Italy). After riding 100 miles, I've noticed the wheel is starting to get loose again from left to right (not up and down). The nut seems to be on tight. Any advise here? Is it really just getting the right spacer in there? Bearing? Axle?

Thanks,

Two inches of wobble in the rear wheel? I'll offer some advice. Don't ride it until this is fixed!

I'd get the scoot to a shop that knows their stuff really quick. Certainly check the bearing and the trueness of the axle. Also check for any damage to the wheel and suspension. If a missing spacer is truly the problem and a factory replacement isn't available, have one fabricated.

Just remeasured
About 1/8" in movement. 2 inches was without make shift washer. Still seemes like a lot.

Still something wrong.
If the spacer was left out it may have caused damage or
alot of wear. Get this checked by someone who knows what they
are doing.

a tiny bit of left-right movement - a sort of a 'bump-bump' as you move the wheel from side to side - is normal. 1/8" sounds like too much - truck it to another shop and have it properly checked out.
