I usually cover it when not riding. I do this mostly for security. Even with a cover in really hard rain it still gets wet. How bad is this for Vespa? I have on several occasions got cought with no cover as well.

It's a vehicle, dude - not a sugar cube!
Don't be afraid to get it wet - it won't hurt it a bit. Eventually, you may even need to wash it - in which case, I recommend water. |

I've got a GTS, this is it's third year on the road. With the exception of winter from November to March, it is never inside and I've never owned a cover. No rust, no electronics issues... no worries.
Rain is like a soapless carwash. Heck, most of the time I don't even use the seat condom. (only when it's parked in a pigeon or seagull infested area) |

Mine lives outside year round. I drive in the rain all the time. My little ET is a trooper about it. I'm sure yours will be fine. At 5 years old mine shows no sign of rust!

I rode my GTS in a DOWNPOUR, got soaked to the skin..Big deal. It rains in Italy too. They aren't made of paper.

it got wet? take it in for a professional drying. this is important that it's dried to spec or it may over dry, which may void your warranty.

If I didn't ride in the rain, I would hardly be riding at all last month.

Hi,
wet condition itself will do nothing to the scooter itself. The ori-exhaust will rust sooner or later, even faster, if your scoot will see salted roads in winter or if you live near the ocean. Salt should be eventually washed away. Something real good in terms of prolonging life time: Treat the contact areas where the metal sheets are welded together and all areas where the sheets are so near together, that water can stay for a longer while in between with wax. bye |

It rains a lot in Florida, especially in summer. I have no garage, and when the scooter is already wet, well, you can't put the cover on then ...
My dealer advised me NOT to buy a GTS with a leather seat because "that's not really ideal for Florida, if you plan on actually riding it." One bad thing I have noticed -- the bolts on my rear rack (which is the painted-to-match rack that comes with the pricey Vespa top case) are starting to RUST ... or rather, the bolt holes in the rack are rusting. Any advice??? |

I've been told I'm 98% water. But I always get the feeling my skin keeps 99.99% water proof.
