Cowl trim, are you talking about the plastic piece that runs along the bottom?

Theres one screw in the rear and I think two or three in the front you have to remove. If youve got rear crash bars you may need to remove them as well. After all the screws are out, pull the rear portion out towards (not a whole bunch) you and try to pull the front part to back towards the rear. Be careful the front tabs can break off easy. If you break one, no worrys.

Good luck.

Sounds to me like he is referring to removal of the leg shield beading, not the painted plastic trim panel under the rear cowls. It's a pain in the butt--I've replaced it on one side of my GTS. It requires loosening the glove box and the floor board assemblies (lots of screws and a few clips that will fall down into the scooter body never to be seen again--buy spares). It is also a bit of a pain to snap the new beading piece in place getting it properly positioned and held in place. The new trim from Vespa is pre-shaped so it is side-specific. You will be disassembling a lot, starting from the horn cover, working your way to the glove box, and ending with the floorboard. Screws are hidden inside the glove box, under the floorboard rubber strips, and in the battery compartment. Not a terribly big deal, but not for the feint of heart either.

Gene--going without the beading is not really an option. It covers some sharp unfinished edges.
