I read the technical section on this and understand it, but I can't get my hand behind the switch enough to sqeeze the body and push it out to take it apart and clean the contacts.

Changing the spark plug is no problem for me, but this one has me going. . .

Also, if you push the switch and hear the mechanism at the latch attempt to open but fail, could it still be dirty contacts?

It could be what happened to mine. One of the screws vibrated loose, and then the cable wouldnt engage the latch mechanism. I was some how able to open the seat and fix the latch. If its a new scoot, then it should be a warranty issue.

Sorry not much help.

Yeah, it's under warranty. . . no biggee. . . just thought that I would try and fix it myself. . . maybe it isn't the switch after all, but something like what you had. . . after all, I can hear it operating. . .

I hear ya,
Ive had a couple of issues with that latch. First the screw came out and the cable wouldnt engage, then the latch wouldnt lock the seat down, thank god warranty covered it.

Check out my previous posts on this subject.

Not to be a complete wise guy, but: If you push the button and you hear the solenoid activate, then your button is activating the solenoid.

If your Vespa is young enough to be under warantee, chances are extremely slim that your switch contacts have gotten dirty. In fact, I'd say impossible. Also, there's a manual release that should settle it for you.

If your seat isn't latching, the latch has engaged and is "locking out" your seat's hasp. It's sort of a "latch 22." Car doors are designed the same way. If you accidentally trip the cam lock without the door, then your door won't close all the way until you release it by hand. Manually release the rear latch and everything will be normal again.

Again, a search should clear it all up.

I did an exhaustive search and didn't see your previous post until I found it by your name. . . thanks!

Well, yesterday, I could hear the latch activating but it was half-hearted. After jiggling the plug 100 times trying to get it out to clean I walk out this morning and it works like a charm. . . I have been using the manual release for a week. . . I'll see how it goes. . .
