Hey folks, I just had this vespa lx 150 delivered to my house. I won it in a drawing from a local restaraunt. I really had no idea what a vespa was until now! My first thought was to sell it and put the money into my car( Im a car enthusiast) But after driving it around the block a few times, I think I might keep it. oh yeah, I started it up first time, and ran into my house lol, got a little dent and took out a plastic reflector piece on the fork

Congratulations! You should definitely keep it, you'll save money on driving to put into your car hobby Careful with the throttle now! Learn your way around the bike to be safe before taking off, but I am sure you will love every minute of it. Wish I got random free Vespas
And welcome to Modern Vespa! |

Congrats on your win dave.
If you decide to keep the scoot I hope you will take time to post here regularly and also check out all the great info on this forum. There is a load of help for 'Noob' Scooterists and first up will be a recommendation that you take a riding safety course - called an MSF in your country. Of course if you've been on two wheels before you may well find yourself quickly addicted to the fun and functionality the Vespa brings to your commute or just round town riding and the exceptional value you will get in these times of skyrocketing gas prices. Good luck. Boulty |

I agree with the others who suggested the MSF course if you decide to keep it. Learning how to ride it safely will allow to you to enjoy yourself while you ride it. Congratulations on the win.

Congratulations on the win! You may just get into scooters more than your car even and hope you keep the LX. Get some gear, safety education and ride safe but most of all, have fun!!!

Lucky SOB!
While some may disagree, I recommend getting a full face helmet (you can get ones that flip up). Im still working on my teeth from an accident 3+ years ago. Other than that have fun and be safe. |

The MSF is essentially mandatory - you are driving a 150cc scooter and, AFAIK, in all states you are required to have a motorcycle lic.
I'm a car nut, have a heavily modified Miata I adore... and I don't drive it much at all - I drive my scoot instead. |

Haha, how do you like your moped?
If you are actually curious... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/165576 Old and outdated but shows some of the work. I used to amateur race my car so it has a lot of suspension work done to it. Mine has stock power but it is very simple to turbo or supercharge them to 250hp+ or even swap a 5.0 302 Ford V-8 in. www.miata.net ⚠️ Last edited by Icehawk on UTC; edited 2 times

Dave, congratulations! I won my ET4 [the 150cc Vespa that was replaced by the LX150] in a raffle. What an amazing gift from the Cosmos--
One of my first tasks after I got it [a total newbie w no prior MC or scooter experience] was to take an MSF motorcycle safety class. It takes the place of the DMV testing for motorcycle endorsement on your driver's license, and, more importantly, gives you a ton of skills and information to keep you safe on the road. And I *practiced* like crazy in parking lots and on side streets, setting up homemade cones to practice figure 8s, practicing emergency braking, learning how to look through a turn.... Pick up a copy of David Hough's Proficient Motorcycling too [check your library]. Invaluable. And consider getting decent gear! www.newenough.com Have fun! --Deborah |

Thanx for all the replies My vespa is a really cool looking red. I really think i'll keep it. I had fun just riding around the block a few times. It will never take the place of my car hobby. Im driving a black Dodge Charger with 360 hp, and have a project 1970 Dart planned as well. But I think I found a new hobby! What a great toy, and practical as well, Ill save hundreds in gas per year. So yeah, I consider myself pretty lucky
