Are you riding down hill with the wind behind you or just drafting? Wow, those are some great numbers. You must do your own oil changes and do them often?

Congrats on your passing 34,000 miles. Also, on your gas mileage. You must avoid jack rabbit starts and are able to cruise long distances without traffic signals at medium speeds.

I am a little skeptical of everyone's mileage claims as I find it hard to accurately determine. In California, the gas vapor sleeve on gas pumps makes it difficult to fill the tank without spilling gas as I generally have to lift the sleeve back just to get gas to flow. Unless you are filling the tank to exact same level each fill up, it is hard to accurately determine gas mileage. I suppose you could fill it to a visible level at the top of the tank, however this frequently leads to gas spills.

If you use the McCuff it fills the tank perfectly every time.

coprock,
It doesn't matter how you fill your vehicle. You simply divide the TOTAL miles by the TOTAL gallons.

If you fill to the same point every time, then you can calculate your MPG from one tank if you confirm it with the TOTAL MPG.

Since 84+ MPG defies the laws of thermodynamics, I suspect poster is saying he once got that mileage. I don't know how he did that even downhill with a tail wind. Downhill only gets you about 30% improvement on your MPG.
Counting a down hill glide with the engine off isn't calculating MPG if you don't calculate the gas used for the uphill part.

The last two fill ups have been between 75 and 80 mpg in mixed riding. I think it's reasonable to average 82.94 if he is easy on acceleration and has long stretches on his rides with no stops. Not sure what you mean by defying the laws of thermodynamics.

Congratulations on both your milage and fuel consumption. I'm impressed!

This is really the way to go. Maybe seems a little more expensive in the short run.......but in the long run I think it's cheaper.

Over 34k that's amazing. I'm not far behind. How about a picture of a GTS with over 34,000 miles on it?

Wow
Congratulations on the great numbers!
I can't wait to get past the 1000 mile mark, but I guess that won't take too long anymore. I still remember when I passed my 10000km mark in my first car... at a old rundown bus stop somewhere in northern France. Some things you never forget! But then again a car and scoot don't really compare that well... *offindreamland*

Modern Vespa should have a place below you avatar where you can post you mileage. It'd be neat to see that stat along with your location, posts #, and what you ride.

Currently at 3500...not quite 35000!

congrats!
