Getting old and forgetful - have searched here, on Google, and Wiki, and can't find a pic/model number or any info about my first scoot.

When I turned 18 - in 1965 - my Dad bought me me a Honda 50cc "small motorcycle". It wasn't the 'step-thru' scooter that most had, but a motorcycle-like framed bike with a raked exhaust pipe - made the step-thru guys green with envy.

Can anyone fill me in or point me to a site with some info?

Thanks!

I believe it was called a Honda Sport 50. I had a Honda 90 in 1966.

I believe you're right! My buddy got one the same day I did; another pal got the 90 a few months later.

Thanks for the link - excellent photos - mine was black.

Ultimately traded it for a '56 Chevrolet...what I wouldn't give to have one now...

and a very fine little bike it was/is. My first bike pre-license was a Solex,
49cc, friction drive moped. I picked up a tired little one in a junk shop about 2 years ago and spent the winter rebuilding it. That spring, the memories flooded back along with the fine smell of 2-stroke oil. Of course my daughter promptly took it over (good thing, if fits her better than it does me these days) but I still enjoy taking it out for a ride now and then. Do your self a favor, start watching Craig's List. Somewhere there's a Honda 50 Sport that could use a little love.

My dad has one of these in his garage. It's been there since I was a kid. He and I are going to have it out if he doesn't get it fixed and get it back on the road, soon.

I wanted to buy it from him and fix it instead of buying the Vespa. Now I own a Vespa and you couldn't run fast enough to give it to me. However, my partner will be needing some two-wheeled transportation next summer. One of us will be riding the Vespa and one of us will be riding the Honda. Mark my words.

Actually, we were cultivating a sort of mini-Thug posture...our proudest moment was when we were thrown out of a tavern because they "didn't allow motorcyclists"!

My first bike was a Honda of the same vintage, a CB305 Dream. Wish I still had it.

Honda
The 305 Dream was a CA77. A CB305 would have been the Hawk. The scooter style 50 was a C100 or Cub 50 the Sport had a high tank and was a C110.

I use to have one of those Honda Sport 50 a red one. Ran the hell out of it and it just kept on going, never no problems. Buddy of mine got one with a 90cc engine on it.

Re those little Honda's
Hello:

I have both an unrestored 1966 S90 and a restored 1966 Red 305 Dream w/whitewalls of course and an aftermarket windshield.

Both run like champs. I alternate riding them and the wife's ET4 or my Stella Atomic Fireball. It is a hoot to ride a reliable 40 + year old motorcycle. BTW, I believe that the S90 inspired Brian Wilson of the Beachboys to write the classic song Little Honda (first recorded by the Hondells).

I recently ordered a windshield/flyscreen for the little S90. I am thinking of either selling her this fall or repainting her. If you're intersted in the S90 get back to me at the email addy below.

Little Honda spoke of a three speed and that was what the Cub 50 had. A three speed manual with an automatic clutch.
I have a 1966 CA160 Dream that is my daily driver, all over Arkansas. 8)

I have a Beachboys cd and a Hondells cd with their different versions of "Little Honda".

When I was 15 [42 years ago], I won a 50 Super Cub in a local contest. As soon as my father saw it in the soft drink company's lobby [the source of the prize - literally won with bottle caps], he decided it was "too little". We trucked it to the local Honda dealer and immediately traded it for a new Sport 65. I rode that bike 5,000 miles at a cruise of 37 mph and sold it for $200 a year later. The Cub was $249 in 1966. The Sport 65 was $335. A net profit of $114 after the $200 sale.

To this day I have not ridden a Cub 50. Any one have one for sale?

My wife rolls her eyes whenever I put in either cd in the car and break out with "First gear- It's allright..."
